    Truck @ The Garage Anxiety

So you lied to the man about "no rush" but you expect him to be honest with you? ;) That was meant to be a joke so don't get mad yet! I am in complete agreement with @Itali83 , if you can replace a window motor, an oil change is no issue. You do realize that an oil change and a fuel filter...

What have you done to your square lately??

I adjusted the idle. That sounds pretty simple right? Well...I have read a LOT of stuff on this forum and elsewhere that went into great detail about unplugging things, resetting things, the TBI system is nothing like a carburetor... I was honestly worried about this. I didn't know how many...

    ✌ South Louisiana

@HiCotton there is a C10 Club Facebook page that will give you access to some pretty decent folks. There were a few decent Squares at the car show in Jackson, LA. One guy in your area has a superb blue and silver K20, I met him in Clinton the day of the Jackson show. What kind of winch do you...

    Towing with a 305 V8?

@Velder if it's the stock transmission it is NOT a 5 speed. Probably a 4 speed auto, 700R4. The right gears and the right mindset make the tow vehicle work. A man with realistic expectations and some common sense can do a lot with a 305. @SirRobyn0 has a very nice C20 that has a 305 and he...

What have you done to your square lately??

It wasn't as bad as I feared. I didn't enjoy it but at least the stupid window goes up and down without assistance now. For some reason it never wanted to work when Mrs. Redfish was in the truck. I think her weight was causing the chassis to flex and bend putting the mechanism in a bind. :(...

What have you done to your square lately??

I started a project I have needed to tackle since I bought The '87. I was intimidated by this one, y'all can laugh if you want. It's not finished but I have had a long day and it will get done tomorrow morning.

What have you done to your square lately??

I cleaned it, shined it and drove it to the Jambalaya Festival Car Show. It hauled the canopy, the chairs, the ice chest and of course a bunch of tools that I did not have to use.

Removing a leaf from a spring pack...which one?

I removed the bottom leaf, the shortest leaf in the stack when I modified my front springs. I agonized over that decision...it worked out okay for what I was trying to accomplish. In my case I had to shorten the bolt/pin afterwards. I wanted to get the nose level with, or slightly lower than...

    steering box adjustment

When you have tightened it too much the steering wheel will no longer return to center on its own. You will have to turn the wheel back to center every time while a properly adjusted steering box will allow the steering wheel to come back to center/straight as soon as you are moving.

How much does tire size effect speedometer?

It is obvious that larger tires will cause an error in the speedometer readings. The faster you go, the greater the error. I am running 33s so I put my GPS on the dash and compared the actual to the indicated. 45 mph indicated is 51 actual. 50 indicated is 57 actual. Installing lower gears...

Locking Hub Body Won't Seal To Hub

I honestly don't see what effect the vent could have here. The front axle tubes are dry and the axle shafts can be moved inward and outward with relative ease. The rotor/hub assembly should not be affected by anything going on in the differential housing.

Locking Hub Body Won't Seal To Hub

Mine is doing the same thing although not as bad as yours. The bolts, as you already discovered will only pull in until there is metal to metal contact. I assume that there is wear/slack in the snap ring and snap ring groove and that the O-Ring should be replaced. Warn sells a rebuild kit...

Here is a pic of mine brand new out of the box with everything pre-installed. You can see the fan orientation in my pic.

    Trailer hitch recommendations

The PO of my '87 installed an Acme hitch. This little hitch simply bolts to the underside of the bumper with 4 bolts. Obviously the weight rating of the bumper is the limiting factor here. It allows me to use any length drop or rise ball mount I need and it sets the trailer back far enough...

Please Help me get this truck going!

O2 Sensor? How does that look? A rebuild kit for the throttle body is relatively cheap and is easy to do. The ignition module inside the distributor can affect things also. On my '87 every single part I replaced had a noticeable effect on performance. The ignition module, the distributor...

    Front 2-3" Springs

@89GMCJimmy I am sorry I missed the original posting for this thread. I have the Skyjacker 2.5 inch Softride on the front of my '87. There is no point in saying that it rides well, but it does ride a LOT better than the OE springs. The truck rode slightly nose up and I hate that look so I...

    Blue Print or GM Performance

The roller cam would be enough to make me choose the Blueprint. The extra 50 horsepower wouldn't hurt either.

    Rised white letter or blackwall

Everybody has an opinion...but it all boils down to what YOU want YOUR truck/vehicle to look like. I wanted mine to look as close as I could get it to what I wanted back when The Truck was new. I didn't want it to reflect current styling trends, I wanted 1987 styling. I did the best I could...

What have you done to your square lately??

I had to do another crawfish boil today. This one was on the bank of the Amite River. Had a couple offers to buy it...Mrs. Redfish politely told them "No".

    Locking Hubs ID

My '87 came stock with the Warn hubs. I sort of want the shiny silver sticker but I am almost positive they didn't have that from the factory.

    Locking Hubs ID

The left hub is a Warn. They came as standard equipment on some trucks in the late '80s. If you buy a new set there will be a silver sticker with WARN over the black plastic.

    Brake bleeder system

MityVac. Works great. I made the mistake of buying a cheap Harbor Freight pneumatic and it eventually malfunctioned. Something went VERY wrong and it forced compressed air back into the brake system.

    '23 Jackson, LA Car Show
