crate engine or rebuild original 350?

The smaller the combustion chamber the higher the compression. When fuel and air have a smaller space at ignition the more force is produced. Light a firecracker in a upside down coffee can vs a trash can and see what happens.

    Diesel MPG

If I stay on the interstate with my 2500. It runs 21 mpg city is 17-18. Pulling 10000 I get 13. My suburban with the 4bt was 20 mpg city and I would estimate 25-26 highway.

Isn't the plate with the springs the pressure plate? That what it looks like to me. I couldn't tell ya why it's stuck on the flywheel though.

I think that engine/tranny would be absolutely perfect with a turbo. You still get great gas mileage with low boost and cruising condition with a power on demand feeling when you need it.

A stock p pumped 24 valve is 450 ft lbs. the nv4500 is actually rated a little less then that. I think a 12 valve is around 400. Just something to keep in mind when you start playing with fueling and turbo changes. The clutches in the new venture have been know to pop like a fuse as well with...

Get yourself an overdrive the first time. I got on one of those online calculators and if you have 3.08 gears with 33's you will be turning 2030 rpms at 65. That engine redlines at 2500. You'll hate it. It's sweet spot for highway cruising is 1700-1800.

ok started new thread, need advice building 383 please Valve train and rotating assembly are really 2 different topics but for under 400 horses Id get flat top forged pistons (just for reliability), a good used 400 small block crank. Why not take the belt off the water pump start the engine and let the engine warm up the water. Then drain off some of the water and add antifreeze.

I'd consider two block heaters (the stock heater and one in the lower radiator hose), a fuel line heater, and keeping that grid heater (hopefully its still there) at -12. Turning your fuel pump up and timing advance will increase power but make cold starts worse. Keep that in mind.

The second port beside the turbo feed is where it belongs. The flex line is because the vibration of a cummins will bust off the end of the sensor.

5.9l Cummins swap into a lucky Square Body

Well that sounds right. Both ports come off the oil filter plate. Did your engine come with a long flex tube that connects the end of it with the oil pressure switch? Mine did and every time the switch would lie against something metal it would ground out and do that. Only other thought I may...

Which oil sender are you using? The one that came with the cummins or the one for the Chevy truck?
