    An oil gauge question

According to the wiring diagrams in my old Clymer's manual, the 78 was the first one to use an electric oil gauge.

    502 in my '77

Go with a Turbo 400. The Turbo 350 isn't really for Big Blocks, the Turbo 400 is STOCK Big Block capable.

    Frame swap

Or use the earlier style bumper.

    Can it be saved

Trucks maybe, but sedans, coupes, and hardtops? Almost none at all. And that is all over the greater Bay Area, not just here in V Town.

    Can it be saved

They are all over the place. They now call them "Nissans", but they are still Datsuns as far as I am concerned.

    Can it be saved

My last name is B E N ARDO, not Bernardo, and I hate seeing nothing but Datsuns and Toyotas on the road, that's why I seem overly sensitive.

    Can it be saved

    Only one said it.

    Can it be saved

You should see what has happened here in California. There are almost ZERO American cars left on the road, so yes, I am sensitive about that.

    Can it be saved

This web-site is dedicated to keeping Square Bodies on the road, not to get them scrapped and the metal sent to Japan.

    Can it be saved

Don't listen to scrappers. If your engine is free, yes you can put it back on the road. You might have to rebuild the brake system, and your pinion shaft and axle shaft seals might go, but your engine should be fine.

    Can it be saved

First, make sure the engine isn't stuck. Mine was sitting in my back yard for 9 years, and one piston was stuck. I got it free, but now it blows some smoke. I haven't put in on the road yet, as I need to rebuild the brake system. If your engine is free, you should be pretty much good to go.

Put them on Craig's List and E-Bay. Never scrap Classic American parts.

Do I need a block heater?

A block heater will allow your heater to start working much sooner, and in super cold weather it will give you quicker cold starts, but if your carb empties it's float bowl, either it is seeping out, or you have a fuel percolation problem. If it is your fuel pump that is losing it's prime, then...

Hope you can solve the problem.

    Pcv or not to pcv?

What about at road speeds? It shouldn't be much over about 45PSI.

    Pcv or not to pcv?

That's why I said, "unless your diagram shows otherwise".

    Pcv or not to pcv?

Is your pressure relief valve opening at a normal oil pressure? If your pressure is super high, you could have excessive oil delivered to the rockers, which could cause the problem you are having. Another possibility is broken rings on one or two pistons, or all the end gaps aligned with each...

    Pcv or not to pcv?

I never said you will blow gaskets, I said you are working against the movement of gases in the crankcase.
  21. M

    Pcv or not to pcv?

The crankshaft spins clock-wise, so a slight vacuum will be generated on the driver's side and pressure on the opposite side. If you put the PCV in the driver's side and the breather on the opposite side, you are working against that fact, so I would put the PCV on the passenger side, unless...
