Best I could find was it was originally in a 1985 Impala according to the code CDJ

    305 Decode

Tell them it’s for a 305 out of 1973 model Chevy of some kind. Only advice I could give without the other codes on it. There’s codes on the front also that will tell exactly what it was originally in

Where is a good place to snake out the exhaust from after pipes meet

Just run it out about a foot from the tire and let it point out. Get you an exhaust tip that’s angled and have it point downwards. No big deal on tire or gas tank. I’ve done several that way.

    Heater core hose hookup

Are your hoses in line vertical or horizontal? Should be the top hose goes to your water pump and the bottom hose goes to your intake.

    Aftermarket Cam for stock 350

Oil was everywhere on it. Needs taken apart and checked out. Which is why I’m researching parts to go back in it that will help it run a little better. It was put into a feed truck years ago and never got over 25mph for 15 years. It needs taken apart and gone through.

    Aftermarket Cam for stock 350

Yeah, I need an intake and carb for sure. Already has dual exhaust. Set of manifolds off an early 90’s model throttle body 350. .342 front and rear gears.

    Aftermarket Cam for stock 350

My budget is like $600. The engine runs. Just has oil everywhere which I’ve cleaned the outside really well. Just want it running for now but I want a better cam in it cause it doesn’t have a lot of hp. There’s been no loss of compression at all. Just not quite enough hp and growl to it.

    Aftermarket Cam for stock 350

Well I’m trying to do this on a budget to have a running engine that doesn’t leak, lack power, or have smog crap on it for now. I know for a fact that the block is solid but what is unknown is the cylinder walls and rings. Just trying to do everything right as possible on a budget. Hard thing to...

    Aftermarket Cam for stock 350

I know that I should send the block off to have everything done but I don’t have the $$ to do everything from inside out top to bottom.

    Aftermarket Cam for stock 350

Still trying to figure this out. Any thoughts on this kit? Should I get something else?

    Aftermarket Cam for stock 350

This is the kit I have been eyeballing. Just don’t know quite enough about all of the specific parts and numbers.

    Aftermarket Cam for stock 350

I know of very reliable engine guy 10 miles from here. I’m know I’m taking the heads and crank to him. The engine is not the factory engine for this truck. It originally came in a 1975 Nova police car if that changes anything. I just want it to run good, breathe good, and bump a little hp and...

    Aftermarket Cam for stock 350

1985 GMC K1500 with 3.42 gears. Everything is bone stock. Only thing I’m gonna do to it is take all the smog crap off. Take apart and rebuild it with all new gaskets, pistons, rings, cam, timing chain, freeze plugs, etc etc. I just want a little more hp and a deeper growl. Something to wake the...

    Aftermarket Cam for stock 350

Have a fully stock 350 4 bolt main. Looking into buying a rebuild kit that comes with a stage 2 cam. Curious on what everyone thinks about the stage 2 cam in a stock 350 4 bolt main. I’m not looking to get 400hp or anything crazy. Just a little something to put some ump into it. What do y’all...

    Engine block ID

Where did you find the info on it cause I haven’t found anything by looking up that number.

    Engine block ID

Sounds like a crate engine number. I don’t know as much about those. I know there’s people on here that can give you plenty of info on it or know where to look anyway. Hope you get the answers you’re looking for.

    350 using oil

See that’s what I was thinking cause I know one person that never uses cork for the same reason. That’s why I was thinking of the rubber.

    350 using oil

What’s the best valve cover gasket material? Rubber, cork, or composite?

    350 using oil

    Lmao!

    350 using oil

Yeah. I’m sure there’s a lot of issues unknown but I can’t afford to fix it for long term right now

    350 using oil

I never seen them on there... so I’m guessing it didn’t have them when that guy put the engine in the Jimmy I took it out of
  23. M

    350 using oil

Well this block was made in 1974 for a police car so idk if it originally had them or not but it will be getting them as soon as possible

    350 using oil

You’re probably right cause the transmission bolts were easier than they should have been.

    350 using oil

I’ve got some tools and access to plenty of tools. I’ve thought about compression test but at the same time, I don’t have any other options for a vehicle so right now I have to use this engine until I can buy a vehicle and start redoing this engine/truck.
