What it sounds like to me is you have the original 208 shifter/ linkage hooked to a swapped in 203. Therefore the shifter/linkage is a 3 position (2h, 4h, 4l) shifter mated to a 4 position (4l, 4h, 2l, 2h) transfer case. I am not counting neutral. The 208 is a 2h forward position and the 203 is...
