    exactly, I cut the marked out area away, no exposure to the backside of the bulb holder. so no weather concerns. lots more light out of the side of the lens. I think the LED bulbs will make it even better, I will get a picture soon

    good place to start on tuning your carb is about 1-1/2 turns out,timing will make a big difference as well.

    Has anyone superglued the copper contacts down on the circuit board ?

    I would use some clear silicone my self, I know those boards seem to be moving a bit and a new one would probably need to tied down for a bit until the plastic gets its curves and bumps worked out, especially around the turn indicator bulbs

    I went ahead with the tail light mod. it puts out some more light to the side,doesn't seem to affect anything to the rear of the truck. the usually darker side of the lens is now got light!! Some new LED bulbs should really light it up back there

    I went to an H4 bulb setup on my 87, had to swap the ground and low beam wires in the connector,just changed their position in the connector works great!! hope this helps

    well just a quick update, the horn is working!! the lights are working!!! and I got the windshield wipers to working!!!, this truck has been a challenge for sure.lots of little stuff gone wrong from sitting and previous owners work. Now time to get back at it and re-install the dash and get on...

    I have been looking for the same solution,My 89 chevy has flip up wipers but the wiper arm is a lot longer than those on my 87 gmc. sure would be handy to find a good swap

    update, I got the horns to work,wasn't jumping them the right way,so re installed got them working up to the plunger on the turn switch,now waiting on parts for under the horn pad on the steering wheel-- whew!!:cool: :cool:

    that plunger rides on the turn cancel cam on the bottom side

    not sure myself, just thought maybe the horn would work just by pushing that little plunger down by hand, it may need to be grounded,then pushed
