    Adding a tach question

The lmc tach and printed circuit are for an original tach gauge cluster, the fuel gauge wont fit standard gauge or base model clusters without clever modification. If you want a simple factory looking tach, try a gm sports salvage tach like this. Follow thread from page 8 to about page 11...

    Lowering questions??

I never figured out why but I didn't like it.

my 79 is lowered but not exactly sure how!

The pic of your step side looks like a 2/4in drop. That's just cut one coil in the front(2in) and 4in drop shackles and hangers for the rear but you would need unmolested leafs and coils springs to get it right.

    Lowering questions??

Im not a fan of drop control arms, I had a set on a 95 extended cab chevy, I lost a lot of turning radius and ground clearance.

my 79 is lowered but not exactly sure how!

Well, if you want to leave it as is it will be fine, its lasted this long all ready....hasn't it? If you want a "cheap" fix and you like the ride, get a used set of front coil springs and cut one round off the bottom. That will give you a 2in drop from factory. That's assuming that the twist...

my 79 is lowered but not exactly sure how!

OK, in the front you have the stock spindles, probably cut stock coils, and the bump stop brackets cut off the lower control arms. You also have those cheezy coil spring lift blocks. In the rear you have 56in leaf springs that would normally have about 7 or 8 leafs total so it appears the PO...

my 79 is lowered but not exactly sure how!

If you can get me pics of your suspension I can figure it out. I need shots of the leaf springs, the leaf spring hangers front and rear, the back side of the spindles, and a shot of the front suspension at ride height.

Is this truck safe to drive and a couple of questions

No...not safe at all! You need to inspect the whole frame, if the cross member is that bad you might have more frame rust saftey issues. If the frame is solid you can swap the cross member but the motor will have to be temporarily supported or removed(your choice).

    2/4 drop wheel sizing

They are 15x6 with 205/75/15 tires which is actually a factory size wheel and tire for a base model square back in the day. I would have gotten a narrower tire if I could find one to handle the weight of the truck.

    2/4 drop wheel sizing

Thanks man, feel free to mirror it if you want to, it doesn't even look like that anymore. Its lower with different wheels. If I wanted 275s I wouldn't hesitate to put as set on 10in rims. Ive done it before and seen it done countless times.

    2/4 drop wheel sizing

Here is a 295/50/15 on a 10in rim on a 3.5in drop in the rear. I don't have a pic of a 275 but it would be slightly taller and slightly narrower tread.

    2/4 drop wheel sizing

Yes I do...thanks, I actually have 2 lowered squares, one has 70s on the front and 50s on the rear. 275/60/15 will look fine on the rear on a 10in rim but the side walls do bulge a little but it doesn't look bad.

    2/4 drop wheel sizing

Negative sir....that doesnt mean that 60 is taller than a 50. Its an aspect ratio. Look up the tire specs on these sizes at any tire website and you will see.
