Lowering questions??

Hey got a question for yall and need advice...I've got a 1982 gmc c2500 high Sierra I just got. I'm gonna make it a little project rat rod style kinda truck and looking to lower it a bit not slammed on the frame but give it a good look ya know. Does anyone know where I can find lowering kits for this model? I'm having trouble finding some everything I find is for c1500.. Or my other choice is basically convert it from 8 lug 3/4 ton suspension to 1/2 ton 5 lug. My buddy has an entire lowering system for the front and rear but it's with 5 lug setup will these parts interchange to mine? How hard would it be to throw a 1/2 ton rear axle in place of the 3/4 ton? Any opinions are welcome thanks!

Man I am curious too. I use to have a 3/4 ton 2WD I wanted to lower once and never did. Would love to now for future if I could just swap 1/2 ton suspension on to a 3/4 ton truck. I don't think I ever found drop spindles. I hate lowering springs. I hope some one can answer this.

and yes you can convert your 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton suspension.

DJM has a kit for 3/4 ton as well as brothers has drop spindles. That will allow you to keep your 8 lugs

I've been doing some research on this too as well has talking with @J Knight about it. There are a few routes you can go.

For the front I'm going to get the spindles from westernchassisinc.com and may also either cut one coil out of the stock spring or get a set of lowering springs to bring the front down 3-4 inches.

For the rear there are a few choices. Westernchassisinc.com has rear springs that are said to produce a 4" drop. You can also lower via shackles and hangers. Another route that J Knight mentioned to me is removed a few leaves from my 8 leaf pack. I haven't 100% committed to which route I'll go yet but those are the options I've found so far

Nice! This is pretty much the spindle I found on the western chassis site the DJM kit is tempting because I was planning on replacing ball joints anyway

Definitely will!! My goal is to lower by end of October so we will see how finances shake out if it happens that quickly. It'll be pretty soon, though, so I'll let you know.

Im not a fan of drop control arms, I had a set on a 95 extended cab chevy, I lost a lot of turning radius and ground clearance.

I never figured out why but I didn't like it.
