    Roller Rocker Arm Situation

Some models of Scorpion rockers are narrower than others............

    Roller Rocker Arm Situation

Yessir. I understand that. It has to be that way, no question. Only problem is that the tips of the rockers closest to the intake are coming dangerously close to the inside if the valve covers, and will hit if I do not move the covers up as far as they will go. I may even have to slot the valve...

    Roller Rocker Arm Situation

Here is a pic I borroowed fromanother website. It is representative of mine: Thew dimensions I gave show a .300 wider spacing at the valve stems than at the guide plates, so it is a bit of a big deal. I have read that aftermarket heads reposition the intake ports/valves.. Quoted from the Jegs...

    Roller Rocker Arm Situation

I have ordered a set of Comp Cams adjustable guide plates. That is not going to completely eliminate the situation, but may help. They were the lesser of two evils, cost-wise. At least if the clearance is not sufficient, I will not have to purchase self aligning rockers should I opt to change...

    Roller Rocker Arm Situation

Gaskets not yet installed. The side to side misalignment causes the cant in the rear edges of the rocker arms, causing some corners to come closer to the rocker arms. The misalignment cannot be eliminated due to the widening dimensions from the guide plats to the valve stems. It is just the way...

Auto to Manual Tilt Column Modification

Got a (hopefully) good deal on an auto tilt column. I may rework as above to remove shift lever bump and tack weld the shift lever at the bottom.

    Roller Rocker Arm Situation

Pushrods are the correct length. When I set the valve covers on the head, the topmost edges of the rocker arms (toward the intake manifold) will contact the valve covers. If I move the valve covers up slightly, I can avoid contact. But, not by much. The Scorpion 1001 rocker arms are very wide...

    Roller Rocker Arm Situation

I am not really able to center the roller tips of my Scorpion roller rocker arms over the center of the valve stems to my satisfaction. I have read that this can be a common problem with aftermarket heads. Question is: would it be better to get adjustable guide plates, or use self aligning...

    Header Installation

Has anybody tried installing headers onto small block prior to installing the engine into their Square Body??

    Yup. Got a puller/installer. Thanks.

    Power Steering Pump Pulley

I have reassembled the '93 serpentine setup on my 355 project, including pressing on the ps pump pulley. Now I fear that the alternator/ps pump rear bracket may need modification to clear the tall valve cover. (Won't know for sure til the covers arrive on Tuesday.) Should I need to remove the...

Auto to Manual Tilt Column Modification

Yessirree. Seen that one a while ago. That cleans up the shifter nub OK. I may have to go that route. Thanks.

    A/C Compressor Side Swap

    Thanky !!

    A/C Compressor Side Swap

The serpentine conversion from the '93 donor engine has alternator and A/C compressor positions swapped. Alternator should not present any problems...........just wires. A/C compressor is a different animal. Is there gonna be trouble getting hoses to connect the comp up as it is on the same side...

    Serpentine Setup Back Braces

Thanks for the link. My setup is very similar but not identical. Back braces are different; maybe the rear brace in your kit can be used with my stuff ??

    Serpentine Setup Back Braces

yup. I do believe you are correct. The rear compressor brace, p/n 10105267 is now a stamped steel bracket and costs $35.00 or so......... Gotta head to the junk yard.

    Serpentine Setup Back Braces

The cast aluminum certainly seems strong enough to handle things, but you gotta wonder why GM put them there in the first place...............

    Serpentine Setup Back Braces

Here they are. I may just omit what I cannot fit........... 1. The back brace for which I have no lowere mounting point. 2. The mounting point on the stock TBI manifold....the bolt/stud at the front of the flapper-like shield 3. The other brace mounted as original The opposite front...

    Serpentine Setup Back Braces

In my ongoing project of rebuilding a TBI engine and converting to carb, I want to use the serpentine belt/accessory setup from the '93 5.7 engine. About the last detail is one back brace which went from the back of the A/C compressor (on passenger side) to a bolt on the TBI manifold on the...
