Throttle cable from a factory LS equipped truck will work. Bow Tie Overdrives has a kit for the TV cable for LS swaps.

    Protecting a new fuel tank

Honestly, I've had my new tank uncovered and unshielded for the last 4 years, and it still looks good as new.

Need some advice with my 86 C20

You may have to play around with the governor weights and springs to get the shift points where you want. There should be guides online. I've never done it first hand, so can't really tell you what does what as far as that goes. Sounds like you are on the right track with the kickdown by...

    86 K10 5.3 swap

850 for a complete 5.3L with accessories/harness/ECM doesn't seem too out of line, especially without a transmission included. I paid $1500 for my LQ9 6.0L, no trans, but had harness/ECM/accessories, but that also has a 6 month warranty, and video of the engine running before pulled from the...

Build Thread - Burb Barn Door to Tail Gate Conversion

Looking good so far, though I can't help with any tips/advice. I never knew there was such a huge different between the two, guess it never crossed my mind. Cool little project though!

Intro and question about towing with a C35 one ton

Honestly, as long as you have a trailer brake controller and good trailer brakes, you'll probably be fine. Just need to drive carefully and take it nice and easy.

What does it take to super charge a small block?

I'd be inclined to run a boost referenced carb, and an MSD ignition retard box, along with some of the other tips people have mentioned above.

Intro and question about towing with a C35 one ton

Welcome aboard! As far as towing goes, I think most 1 ton squarebodies topped out (officially) around 10-12k or so, but it depended on gearing and equipment. There is a trailering special package that raised the GCW to 15,000, but I think it's fairly rare. If it feels sluggish with the...

What have you done to your square lately??

I already had the cluster out to do wiring and etc, so it was really easy. Otherwise, it's just a matter of removing the dash pad and bezel, and installing the new bases and bulbs into the cluster. Really easy to do.

    New Air Compressor

Very nice compressor! I went overkill on mine and got a Quincy 2 stage 60 gallon. Should last longer than I do, hopefully!

Primary tank good, auxiliary tank spits and sputters

Actually, the more likely (and very common) cause, is a split hose between the fuel pump and the fuel sending unit on that tank. My old 87' had the exact same behavior, ran fine on one tank, and would sputter and barely stay running on the other. When I swapped the tanks and engine over to my...

    14 bolt sf or ff?

FF vs SF is really easy, as the FF has large hubs with 8 bolts at the end like this: The SF won't have any bolts on the hub, just a small recessed divot at the end of the axle.

    LMC Window Seals

I used seals from Classic Parts on my 84' (full set, doors, windows, vent window, etC), and they work and seal great, even 4 years later. Whether or not you get the same seals now when you order from them will be the real question. It's been my experience that these places change suppliers like...

89 Square Dually 2wd, need lower highway RPM

The 4L80E has an overdrive ratio of 0.75:1, so you can multiply your rear end ratio by the trans overdrive ratio to get your true final ratio in overdrive. For the 4L80E and 4.10s, that works out to be 3.08 (the equivalent of 1:1 in top gear for a TH350/TH400, and a 3.08 axle).

Show me your electric fan conversion

The fans I grabbed from a 97' 3.8L Camaro were reversible, not sure on the Cavalier fan. While we are at it, here is my electric fan conversion (and a slightly more involved engine conversion :D ): Two e-fans from a 97' 3.8L or 5.7L Camaro, 454 HD cooling Squarebody specific radiator (Spectra...

    Swapping TH400 to 700R4

Ehh, not a fan of Monster transmissions. One of my best friends son bought the highest level they make in anticipation of a big block. He had it installed behind a stock TBI 350 in an 89' K1500. It died 1 month after the warranty period... Not the only horror story I've heard either.

Who makes a good Oil sending unit?

Thread sealant should be fine. Sometimes tape can mess up the ground through the sending unit to block/fitting, and throw off the gauge.
