What have you done to your square lately??

I used a factory low mount compressor (Denso 10S17F) with the Tejas Steelworks mounts. You might be able to position the engine with some Dirty Dingo sliders to where you can use the factory low mount compressor, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I did have to notch the frame to clear the A/C hoses...

    1979 High Sierra 5.3 swap

Will definitely be following. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions. I just got done LQ9/4L80E swapping my crewcab.

this forum is a ghost town lately.

x2. I also don't see the point in complaining about it. It is what it is. You either accept that, or you get out there and actively recruit members. Constantly posting about how it's a ghost town doesn't help anything.

What have you done to your square lately??

Finally got some custom A/C hoses made up and wired up the A/C system for my LS swap. Now I just need to flush the evaporator and high pressure liquid line, install the hoses, install the orifice tube, hook up the climate control vacuum line, install a new blower motor, pull a vacuum, and charge...

    96 subaru outback.. wife's new toy/DD

I've always liked Subies, but never owned one. A co-worker of mine had one that he put over 120k on (for a total of about 230k, since he bought it used), only replaced the timing belt tensioner and charged the A/C for the 10 years he owned it.

What have you done to your square lately??

It was definitely a pleasant surprise! I was expecting maybe 15-16mpg highway, tops, but I guess with my tire size and gearing, I'm right in the sweet spot for cruising.

What have you done to your square lately??

Took it for my first "extended" test drive with the LS swap. I'd mostly been running around town, making sure everything was good. Drove her about 100 miles on Saturday and got 19mpg highway! Not bad for a 6.0L/4L80E/14B FF w/ 4.10s in a Crewcab!

    Need help retrofitting DRAC module!

Thanks for checking back in and updating us! I've got a 91' Speed in my 88' for my LS swap. It's nice having trip and a 6 digit odo, but man, it hates humidity. It acts really funky until it dries out.

    Air Compressor lines

Another vote for copper. That's what I used (with brass fittings and unions for corrosion resistance). These were "in progress" pictures of the install, but you get the idea. I used a hydraulic hose to connect the compressor to the copper piping with a union (temporary steel union in this...

    Min Spec. Diesel

The smallest I would personally go (ruling out a modern diesel swap like the 3.0L from the new RAM), would be a Cummins 4BT.

What have you done to your square lately??

Would you believe I haven't touched the A/C on the Caprice since I bought it, and it still works great? Guess the Freon didn't like Missouri and tried to escape when it lived there! :D

    Let's talk radiators

The 28x17 is the core size, 34x19 is probably with the tanks included.

    Let's talk radiators

Honestly, there is no need for an all aluminum radiator. You are going to pay out the ears for a good one, and you will likely have issues with a cheap one. One of my good friends runs a hotrod and fab shop, and has seen tons of issues with the aluminum radiators failing. For a squarebody, I...

    85 c10 4.3 liter

Edelbrocks are really picky about fuel pressure. The electric pump was probably putting out too much pressure for it.

What have you done to your square lately??

x2. I just went through a circus with a brand new brake drum on my 14-bolt FF (and if you've ever worked on a 14-bolt, you know it's not a cake walk to change drums...). I did one side with all new shoes, hardware and new drum, and drove it, and everything was great. Did the other side the...

What have you done to your square lately??

Upgraded my fan shroud to use rivnuts for ease of removing the fans, and ordered LT1 Camaro fan motors. I pulled my fans from a 3.8L V6 Camaro, which apparently have a different motor (same physical size, different internals). Having now had hands on with both V8 and V6 fan motors, the V8 motors...

What have you done to your square lately??

That is definitely a bit weird for it to just keel over dead like that with no warning, slugishness, and no hammer-beating temporary workage. :D

    Uh Oh .. A crack!

Looks like only the upper thermostat housing is available. You'll likely either need to find a used one, or a good machine shop could probably fix you up.

What have you done to your square lately??

Replaced one of the new brake hoses I put on the truck a few months back. It was clocked in the fitting wrong, and the fitting only fits in the frame one way, so the hose was pushed over and sitting on the control arm, getting rubbed every time the control arm moved. The fittings on the hard...

87 R/V series bulkhead connector pinout???

Here we go. Leave both right hand sections of the bulkhead alone (shaded red and green). These are the rear lighting and head light harness. No need to touch them. The blue shaded area is the wiper wiring, no need to touch that either. For the remaining area, you can remove everything except...

Hang tight, I should be able to get you the info. Just finished up my LS into an 88' TBI squarebody a few months ago.

Radio Suggestions (cleaning up others mistakes)

The 1.5 DIN is only in the 90-91' squarebodies, his 87' should have the old 2 post radio hole (or should have). Though, if it's been hacked out, that's all out the window, I suppose! :D
