    Folding outer door skin lip

Fit about 5" of a new outer skin onto the bottom of one of my doors tonight. Any tips or tricks on how to fold the lip on the sides and bottom without damaging or bend things all out of shape? What have you used or how have you done it?

Lower control arm bushing sleeve install

Thought I would post a picture of how I pressed in my lower control arm bushing sleeves in with my ball joint tool. Turns out the old nuts off the ends of the shafts make nice spacers.

    Energy Suspension bushing size

Found the bushings I need. Kit #3.2126 is the 1-3/8" bushings for the hangers. I took utility knife and trimmed the bushings I had and put them in so I could get the flip kit and rear diff fit in tonight and wouldn't have to wait for the correct kit to arrive. Learned something new, the...

    Energy Suspension bushing size

Turns out the master kit is generic and there is a different kit available for 1-3/8" shackle eyes, which I have.

    Energy Suspension bushing size

Anyone installed these bushings on the rear leaf springs and hangers? The kit I bought (#3.18108G) listed all the bushings as the same size but the rear leaf shackle eye size is smaller and the bushing won't even start into the hole. All bushings share the same part number and that looks to be...

Never thought of the bottoming out over bumps, good point. I will leave them in place, thanks!

    Removing overload.

Getting ready to paint my rear leaf springs on my '82 c10. I am doing a 3/5 drop with a flip kit in the rear. I wanted to clean up the look of the spring pack. I have the 4+1 springs, would removing the overload change ride height? Do not want it any lower than what I get from the flip kit and...

    Metal prep for frame

So, ended up getting a different frame as the one with the surface rust issue was bent. I had the repalcement blasted and just finished painting it. Blew all the left over sand residue off, degreased with brake clean, blew off again, primed and two top coats with Endura products.

There is a store called the Bolt Supply House where I live. It has open stock on virtually every bolt / screw type fastener your could ever want. I will check them out.

Are the new bolts available as kits or do you just make a list and head off the the local bolt supply and buy new grade 8 hardware to match the old?

    Order of operations.

Sending out my frame and separated front running gear to get blasted on Friday. Trying to figure out when to paint, assemble, put bushings in etc. My plan was to paint all parts, put bushings in and reassemble. Sounds simple enough but then my OCD starts talking. If I do it in this order, do...

    Frame differences

Just from moving the bare frame around the shop, it for sure ads more rigidity. Cost and trouble of converting vs advantage for towing, I couldn't say. Maybe the 2 piece shaft handle the torque better being it has the Center bearing for more support?

    Frame differences

Glad I went with my gut on this one. Here are pictures of the frames lined up perfectly at the rear spring mounts. Granted, the sub frame isn't in the one on top but I don't think it would have made much difference.

    Frame differences

I fixed a bend in the frame on my '82 long box behind the drivers front cab mount. Decided not to use it in the end and set out to find a different one. Picked one up today, price was right (20 mins worth of snow clearing with my bobcat) and I have noticed a few differences. The new one is...

    Metal prep for frame

So, did a little more digging on Endura's website and found a product they make called Neutralizer 20. It is phosphoric-acid. "Endura Neutralizer 20 is a VOC compliant formula that meets or exceeds guidelines for VOC levels. Endura Neutralizer 20 is a diluted phosphoric-acid metal cleaner for...

    Metal prep for frame

zpl Ok, good to know. I will have to look for something else to try get rid of the little bit of surface rust that remains. I could get it touched up by my blaster but I'm trying to avoid that solution. I'm going to look into the phosphorous acid suggestion.

    Metal prep for frame

Yes, just checked. It says it's zinc phosphate.

    Metal prep for frame

I had my frame blasted and realized after the fact I needed to do some work on it so I didn't coat it with anything. Now I'm ready to prime and paint. A few areas have surface rust from water splash marks, a one area that got something dripped on it. I wire wheeled all the spots off but I can...

1982 front fender wheel arch rust repair

I am finally getting started on my '82 and am looking ahead to the panel repairs. I see upper wheel arch patch panels available but they are always listed with the fleet side components. Are these compatible on the front fenders as well?
