What have you done to your square lately??

The windshield I just replaced was for that , this place is tough on glass that way. The stained are little water splatters all over the glass. I will try to get a picture of them. Most people would just send it but as I said, morning and evening, your directly into the sun, it's hard enough to...

What have you done to your square lately??

Thank you, nothing else on the market really looks good to me on these trucks other than factory ralley wheels. Jason's Wheel Repair from Chino Ca restored them for me.

What have you done to your square lately??

Once I get the film or what ever is on there off, you can see water spots etched into the glass. After a couple minutes of trying to polish the glass, it has very defined light scratches and you can still see the water spots. Acid rain? That was a big thing during that era. I remember cars...

What have you done to your square lately??

This was an unexpected issue getting the truck ready to go back on the road that I had not encountered before. This was a truck I purchased off a board member's friend in Northern CA a couple years back. The glass was stained with waterspots. I mean so bad I had to drive with the drivers door...

What new tools have you got lately?

I had to remove a broken bolt that holds the pin in a differential and after a search of the internet, came up with this: https://www.freedomracing.com/dpk-01-differential-pinion-shaft-lock-bolt-extractor-kit.html I searched here before posting this and see it's been discussed before but leave...

Anybody know this brand of wheel?

"Appliance" , maybe?, 70's-early 80's, not sure what happened to them. Remember them from old Hot Rod magazine ads. https://www.ebay.com/itm/304477646827

Stepside bed differences (edited another question)

They were welded there from the factory, as for the different welds, over time it would not surprise me to see somebody changed one of the bed side. Step sides are tough to make nice because everything is single panel, there is no place to hide anything.

What are your favorite/ best looking valve covers for SBC?

Yes, but they do not fit with roller rockers, I originally bought them for my other truck with a hot rod motor in it, trying to get the A/C compressor to fit

Borgeson 12.7:1 Ratio. Just wow!!! 1 1/2 turns lock to lock

This is a good point and after seeing your truck I went and bought the ride tech ones for mine. The truth is, we all like the big fat tires up front but the amount of stress put on the front rails when turning is far beyond what any engineer planned for. 4x4's are even worse

Borgeson 12.7:1 Ratio. Just wow!!! 1 1/2 turns lock to lock

Dang, that's a loaded up stepper GMC, cool. I am building the same truck except in red and was going to add that box to the build

Either this part is unavailable, or I don’t know where to search.

Yes, they rust out there even here and it's the only place they rust, the rest will be near mint. Just fabricate a new piece.

    Engine dieseling diagnosis…

When under the hood and tipping the throttle, when it bogs, try whiffing it with some carb cleaner and see if it picks up, it would verify it's a fuel issue. When it's bogging, spray carb cleaner around the base of the carb, intake manifold mating area to the cylinder heads and any other place...

    PERMATEX BLACK ADHESIVE SEALANT

A long time ago, one of my service calls was Permatex in Solon OH where they make and package all the different RTV colors and product. Employees there told me, "Ultra Black" was the best, not sure why but would think they would know.

    Rear Leaf Spring Bushings

Yes, that is work there. The air hammer helps but I had the best luck taking a chisel and opening up the ring eye a bit, the just hammering the bushing out. It usually is uneventful after giving it some room to move

    Engine dieseling diagnosis…

The things I would be looking at first would be to see if the throttle blades are shut at idle and the air is being drawn from the idle circuit of the carb. If the throttle blades are open just a little, it will continue to draw fuel through the venturies and make hard getting rid of the...

80 C10 "Nemo" Build - Started as: Front frame buckled…

If it's a beater, run it. The last guy most likely bent everything else to make it work because he couldn't fix the damage. If it's a builder, measure it, there are frame specs on the internet and other forums. Find out how far the damage goes back. Don't be surprised to find it bellied behind...

Stock 350 getting hot, but only on the highway with AC on

My bet is the radiator is plugged up or has debris between the condenser and radiator blocking air flow. Is the shroud in place and any other ducting between the rad and condenser? Going down the road at 2-2500 rpm requires higher flow thought the radiator to get rid of the heat from the...

What new tools have you got lately?

I deal with roll pins on a daily basis, for years I never thought twice about just hammering away, smacking my fingers, not being able to get a good swing due to my hands in the way, I can deal with tightening it occasionally. A customer even looked at mine and made a comment how I was prepared.

What new tools have you got lately?

I am a material handling technician and spend money on tools to do the job better, safer or more efficiently. I finally broke down and bought one of these, a chisel/punch holder. Having smacked my fingers too many times over the years, you get gun shy and it just takes longer to complete the...

Has anyone have experience using a bed lift?

Another guy here that made one out of wood except I made it grab the rails so they would not bend or slip and had a pulling point in the center. If you go to the local lumber year, I use Home Depot, they usually have a "cull" lumber section of twisted and damaged boards that contractors would...

I have been told a local spring shop can re arch and rebuild them cost effectively but never tried it.

    Heat temp gun/correct temp sensor/etc.

The fact it gets warm on the highway suggests it's a flow issue in the radiator or it's too small of a radiator. Also verify the cap is functioning and not bleeding off pressure. Rock Auto has all the sizes listed in their on line catalog for all the engines offered so you should be able to...
