Recommendations while tearing down for valve job?

Do as much as possible within your $ limit when your in there. Check lifters, pushrods and all the parts that are accessible without heads and intake. If something fails or wears and you have to pull the heads again...no bueno. Ask me how I know.

    Intermittent steering wander?

Not easy...remove wheel, axle, rotors and knuckles. Run a straight pipe trough the ball joint holes on the axle and measure the angle. Even with this method it's not exact cause angle of the truck and other factors are not known. Best would be to visit an alingment shop.

    Intermittent steering wander?

The angle doesn't look too bad. I see that you have no sway bar; that could contribute to the wandering.

    Intermittent steering wander?

How much lift do you have? Is the steering arm / pitman arm stock or is it matched to the lift ? If your drag link is not close to level you get bump steer when the suspension moves. The higher the angle the more bump steer.

New to the forum, but not to Squarebodies...

Welcome from Austria. Contact old air products, they know where to get this lines and which compressor. I would go for a modern style compressor, more efficient and less power draw. https://www.oldairproducts.com/products?car=47-1176-1978&clev=0

    CARBURETOR DATED

I run 12 degrees on my K5 and 14 on the 66 Impala. Always be sure your ignition system is working as it should before fiddling with the carb. Search Uncle Tony's Garage on youtube, this guy knows tons about carbs and ignition and all the other stuff. He's a Mopar guy but the principles are the...

    Door Gap

Good that it worked. On a friends K5 the aftermarket door was so off that we had to cut the window frame and weld it back on to make it fit. Was a China/Taiwan quality product.

    CARBURETOR DATED

Yes but the Edelbrock fits on the gm square bore manifold. The AVS2 is spread bore. Adapters are available too. An insulator spacer could help with heat soak problems which is caused by modern crappy fuel. I had no problems with starting the engine when warm 10 years ago, now on warm days all...

    CARBURETOR DATED

I run a 500cfm AVS2 with electric choke in my K5 with a 350. Throttle response is great. Add a tune up kit if you buy one. It's on it till I get to rebuild one of my shelved Quadrajets. Which could be probably far in the future.

    Tubular on the c1oh

C10 and C20 use the same front coil springs. Try the sway bar first, get a heavy duty one. There are also rear sway bars available. Leave the rear shocks alone, the engineers at gm had a good reason to make the shock setup how it is. Staggered shocks dampen the axle wind up under acceleration.
