    Best mileage I ever got out of a truck was my 2002 Dodge 3500 DRW, going west out of Laramie on I-80 headed for Rawlins. Going downhill in 4th gear of a 6 spd NV5600, Jake brake on, being pushed by a triple axle GN trailer empty weight 5500.

    Full metallics for my 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. When I'm hauling a 19,000 5th wheel or 11 round bails, I could care less about dust or noise.

    I would prefer to run a cable like you're talking about in the passenger/cargo area. Less chance of damage to the cable inside-at least no rocks rattling around. IMHO!
