    Header swap begins.

Took an hour drive to an outing and then an hour drive back. Had a couple buddies with me. First off they commented on the ability of 3 grown men to set in a truck and not crowd each other. The other comment was how the motor/exhaust sound brought back some great memories. On the x-way entrance...

I already do. The tone is so mellow and throaty. No tinny sound.

Not even funny.... I couldn't believe some of the fasteners on this truck is metric and some SAE. Just not funny...lol

I knew I forgot to mention something... With the header wrap the bay is so much cooler. Just for that alone, I would do the wrap, inspite of the fiberglass itching. And here's another "slick trick": use toenail clippers to trim plastic zip ties. They don't leave razor sharp stumps that filet...

Ok, final update and appoligies for the long wind. Exhaust is complete. It has been through a couple of heat cycles. All the bolts have been checked for tightness. It sounds awesome and it runs better; for instance....go to drive-in for lunch. Then go to a store or 2 or 3. Get in, hit the...

The P.S. bracket low-down. First off, thank you for the compliments. The ps bracket started out as 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" x 12" square aluminum bar. I carved it down from there. That took about 4 hours of manual machine work. (Not rushing). I have years of manual and CNC machine experience and I'm way...

Mufflers are: Flowmaster Delta Flow 50 series. 2-1/2" in/out.

Oh fudge... These pics were of the 46 year old under coating still dripping (on a daily basis) out of the hood. Sorry, I'll get pics of the isolaters up in a few... It was late after a long day....

Lol... That answer to the "which muffler" question was posted as I was in bed... And now, I just got up... Can I at least get a cup of coffee ☕️☕️☕️ before trash diving? Sheesh...

Got the isolators fab'd up and installed in a couple hours. What a difference! Lol.went for a tool around the block. It sounded amazing.

Flowmaster.....aww krap, I don't recall...I'll dig the box out of recycling and let ya know...I should know that...

Inspite of my error, the exhaust is on. Where the header terminates the pipe points toward the ground and turned in a bit toward center. I guess they are all like that, but that just looks silly. So I took a protractor and determined that it's about 7° pointed down and about 7° pointing inward...

Well...I may have screwed up. In the picture you can see the exhaust hanger is "hard" to frame. No "rubber baby buggy bumper" thingys. And man you can feel the engine vibration thru everything. I will have to cut up that semi mudflap and fab some. Here I thought I did such a nice clean job...

Update: After getting all the tools out and everything set up to get the exhaust in, the sky opened up and I pert-near drowned. It came straight down so hard, I could barely see the house across the street. And over the next 3 hours, it didn't let up much. Honestly, I can't ever recall a summer...

Fired it up this morning for first heat cycle. Exhaust system consists of headers and 16" pipe. Today will be completing the rest of the exhaust because it was way too loud. Fun, but too loud.

Update: Driver header is in. I had a few other things that demanded my attention so it did not get as far as I would of liked to. Tubes were arranged and new hangers are in the works. Hopefully it won't rain much tomorrow.

Yep. Everytime I washed up, it was all cold. Even the shower was cold.

Headers and all pipes are stainless. Mufflers will rust but those are easily replaced.

So, here's a slick trick I stumbled onto out of "itch relief" desperation. It was 80°+ yesterday and sweating while working with that fiberglass wrap, just made things worse. After taking a shower, I still felt like ripping my flesh off. I was trying to think of something that could snag those...

Update: Very busy day and I'm exhausted..yuk yuk... Exhausted...get it? Oh, nevermind.... Anywho... Started out this morning going to local autoparts store. They had 1 50" spool of header wrap and 4 stainless zip ties. That would do my riding mower. They had one 2-1/2" muffler clamp. That was a...
