    700R4 Information Thread

I think we all need more reasons to keep old junk around, especially when talking about complex assemblies like driveline or even certain suspension/steering parts. The future is not going to be kind to l e g a c y technology and will try to tax or regulate it out of existence

    Key release on column stuck

when trying to get metal parts like that to free up, the best timre would have been without the key cylinder in it . when i replaced my key cylinder in my column, it had been YEARS iwithout usage too. only manual trans columns should have the lever. and mine worked flawlessly, im wondering if...

    GMT800 radiator "jumped" out of bushing/retainer ?

yes, there was evidence that at some point, something had passed through the grille without damaging it , but smacked into the PS cooler, condensor, AND radiator, causing all 3 to be dented and the condensor and the radiator both being upended off their lower driver side mounts, causing them to...

    Help with block id

When I became a service advisor I was told to basically in bad faith tell customers they needed parts they didn’t need and to try to include things on a work order hoping they didn’t notice (like 15 dollar bottle of b12 injector cleaner!) I felt dirty doing that so that’s how I left the...

Red and tacky vs blaster extra tacky red grease

I’ve almost used all of a blaster tacky and I will be loading a Lucas I found at auto store to be used next. I’ll get an idea for how the grease behaves on a surface level and I have a few machines I can report back on how well the grease “stays”

    Installing Sensors

dont use teflon tape when threading into weaker/less supported threads, because you can break the threads or crunch out that part of the block/head etc. Its better to use it in liquid form, like permatex high temp thread sealant

    Help with block id

Flint, Michigan March 19th ASSUMING that crate engines followed the beginning part of the sequence. Im sorry to tell you but that 350 isnt originally out of a car or truck It came off an assembly line, passed through a POS (point of sale) and then into your truck. nothing wrong with that but...

    Installing Sensors

depends what its doing. it may ground through a wire narness, it also may through the block like you said. also, it may need to be resistant to higher temps than another spot.. or oil.. or not contaminate something.. etc

how fast is your power window?

Well the regulators can still fail/wear but they are easy to replace. However, I would like to point out that square bodies have very fast crank windows. the fords of the time did too. The GMt 400, im not sure. but the gmt 800 crank Windows SUCK they take a lot of cranking and the crank...

    Random Service Engine Soon light

So do you use the 95 octane? if so, you are already using sufficient octane since 87 would be the factory number for your truck here in the US

    Factory A/C Conversion for '86

might require a different or modified valve off a modern cycling compressor, but i dont see why it couldnt?

    Factory A/C Conversion for '86

Factory 1986 would have used a R4 compressor. Junk. Youre already doing an LS swap. I would do something different than factory if you have a single cab vehicle.

    Random Service Engine Soon light

iirc europe uses MON to measure octane while the us uses (MON+RON)/2
