    1975 buckskin paint code 62

You can't go by the noun name. The naming is marketing magic. "Hugger Orange" on a Chevy becomes "Carousel Red" on a Pontiac. "Black" on a Chevy becomes "Tuxedo Black" on a GMC becomes "Black Diamond" on a Cadillac. You have to go by the paint code (62) and the recipe (WA2778). K

    Fender Bolt Thingies

Here's the story that stems from that experience:

    Fender Bolt Thingies

This is correct. My guys installed about 1.8 million fenders, with about 7 of those in the nose of each fender. Cross threaded and broke off a bunch of 'em too, right on the assembly line. K

    Beauty ring help!

Everything looks ok from here. You have to start one location and then hold it (with your foot, or knee, or helper). Attach directly across from there, and then each side 90 degrees. So - like you are making a "cross". K

    Adjustment sleeve question

Is that the fore/aft drag link (connecting the steering gear to the knuckle)? That wouldn't affect alignment. The cross car tie rod would be the component that changes alignment. This drag link would, however, affect if your steering wheel is crooked or straight while going down the road. K

    New Gears Sing a Little

    78 K20 4 speed interior questions

Q1: A piece of black tape, like wide electrician's tape, is attached to the clear plastic of the cluster and covered with the bezel Q3: AC was a free flow option and not tied to Silverado. So - yes - you could get a Silverado without AC...

Having some rub on inner fender well

If it is "friendly contact" then it is fine. That is, if it hits every so often on a smooth part of the wheelwell it won't cause any damage other than rubbing the paint off. K

    Weld or Panel Adhesive?

Me too. Cab corners and below the trim on one box side. It's been 13 years and still looks brand new. K https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=342926&page=4 https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=342926&page=5

Why are brake hard lines coiled?

All of the above, but also to allow for vehicle assembly. The brake system is assembled, evacuated and filled on the chassis line. An inspection before body drop ensures that the complete brake system is functioning. The brake master cylinder is "slaved", or fixtured, in space. After the...

Front axle off set to passenger side

You'll never be able to just swing the door and have them latch from the momentum. There's just not enough mass in the door. And - as you've already noted - the regular cab is such a small volume that it can't vent the air quickly enough. Cracking the window a little helps with this. K

Are shims still needed after cab mount replacement?

Yes - correct. If it was a "permanent" addition it would be added via an engineering change, and shown in the assembly manual. Anything less permanent would be added via a temporary deviation, and would have a specific time limit. K

Front axle off set to passenger side

By inserting tapered shims between the spring and axle pad. K

Front axle off set to passenger side

Apples and oranges. The "beam type" front axle of a K truck vs the unequal length control arm independent design of the C truck are entirely different animals. K

Front axle off set to passenger side

Good example. I like to think of the wheels on a shopping cart. Same thing. We used to crank the caster up as much as we could - like 10 or 12 degrees. Assuming the steering gear is tight that will make it feel really solid on center. K

Front axle off set to passenger side

There were a few inherent problems: a) Once a customer was "tuned in" it was nearly impossible to fix it well enough for them to be satisfied. We even bought back some trucks and the customer went out and purchased a new truck that was identical to the old one. b) Short wheel base/ high...

Front axle off set to passenger side

Lol! I was the "brake pull" guru. I used to travel to dealerships to fix trucks they couldn't fix. The 1/2 leaf shown above was my invention (an old MOPAR trick). K

    Emissions sticker

No; not on top. It should be next to the label in the photo.

    Emissions sticker

Just a reminder: for HD emissions the label goes on the air cleaner - because we certify the powertrain. For LD emissions the label goes on the radiator support - because we certify the vehicle. K

Front axle off set to passenger side

Faster? I'm not sure. The line rate on Flint Line 1 was 60 jobs per hour. Line rate on Flint line 2 was 36 jobs per hour. I think that's why they did the buck build on Line 2 only, because they couldn't keep up on Line 1. Harder? yes. Definitely harder to do buck build, because there is...

Front axle off set to passenger side

Buck build, as shown above, vs piece meal comes and goes depending on what is en vogue at the time. When I ran the Line 1 (pickup) Fender set area it was a piecemeal installation, so there were two guys on the LH side installing the LH fender only, and then independently there were two guys on...

Front axle off set to passenger side

Just based on the hood fit. The radiator support and fenders were slid cross car until the hood to fender gaps were even. There were various attempts to create and use a front end squaring fixtures but because it was extra work for the assemblers they usually very quickly fell into disuse. K
