Dang, hate to hear that '06 GMC was high maintenance. My current '05 is my 8th of that generation truck, they've all been fantastic and other than things I inflicted on them, required nothing more than regular maintenance. A warranty and someone else fixing it was the idea for our dually but...

    Show your daily driver

I'm so glad I dumped my '17 Ram when I did. I have 4 different friends that either have their 1-3yr old truck torn way apart for something stupid or it's at the dealer every other month. Same with our '23 Ram 3500 dually at work, it's been at the dealer constantly the last 3-4 months. My 40yr...

Was gonna say, I've never seen a stainless traditional Flowmaster, only the newer ones like the FX. But all the chambered ones I've seen rot out after a few years. I had a set of 40s on my first Mustang that one of the baffles let loose. That car is why I DESPISE flowmasters, so much drone

    2001 Silverado advice

I agree with the other guys, I'd pull the motor for a complete reseal (I'd assume it could use a rear main/oil pan gasket at least), slap some fresh head gaskets on it and roll on. Only because of the mileage, I'd have the heads checked. While you're at it, just pull the cover off the diff to...

C20 - Trailering vs. Camper Special

The Big 10 was the Chevy heavy half (a GMC would have "Heavy Half" where yours says Big 10). It basically got the larger brake option and heavier duty springs/trans cooler/etc to up the GVWR past the emissions requirement weight (6000lbs IIRC?). That Trailering Special badge was likely added by...

Hey, I have that same gray/black/orange duffle bag lol

    Whatcha do with that...?

Good parts (or at least good cores/rebuildable parts) I save and put on the shelf or take to the swap meet. Water pumpers/alternators get trashed but manifolds, gas tanks, wheels/tires, trim, seats, etc all go on the shelf or sold at the swap meet for more fun money

    350 or LS

If your goal is just a fun weekend/occasional cruiser and you wanna be budget friendly, a warmed over 350 would definitely be the cheapest and easiest route. That, paired with a good overdrive transmission and a rear gear matched to the power band of the engine would make a fun little truck...

    Steering Coupling Boot

Define steering coupling boot, I've never heard of such a thing. Is this like a diaper to go around the steering box? Or the rag joint? It would be better to fix the leak than have a boot over it to just catch all the stuff IMO

What have you done to your square lately??

Yeah, they're just street wheels so they're not super wide. These 20s are only offered as 8", 9.5" and 10.5"

What have you done to your square lately??

Yeah, for the last 3-4 years it's been rough finding decent lifters. For quite a while, everybody knew to stay away from "LS7" style LS lifters, no matter who made them cuz there were so many failures. They high end racing/performance shops had some good ones (Morel or Johnson) but they were 4-5...

Wanting Led upgrade throughout while keeping stock look... Recommendations?

I have everything LED in my truck. RMS Lighting kit for the 4 headlights (glass, looks stock until you turn them on), various LEDs from Amazon for interior lights, turn signals, tag light and marker lamps, United Pacific sequential LED tail lights (function great, but the lens shatters after...

Youtube is your friend. Sound is so subjective, we can recommend all day but you need to figure out what you like. Just keep in mind, glass packs all typically sound similar and chambered mufflers resonate/drone.

That's good to hear they're helping. The guys we deal with in their marketing department that do the shows seem to be top notch guys and speak highly of their sales/service team as well. Hope it all works out

Sure do. There were 2 blue trucks in our booth, a blue/white '71 with an LSA and a 10-speed and mine next to it between us and Sweet Patina

    Square-body?

The funny thing is they were called "Rounded Line" by GM when they came out. I remember them being called Squarebodies when I was a kid in the early-mid 90s even

I took mine out on the AutoX for the first time this weekend :favorites37::favorites37: It was slow as molasses but fun as hell. Can't wait to get that TCI suspension on there

Glad the trip went well! If it was a pair of red/white trucks and a blue truck parked under the awning, that was me lol
