    350 small block

I now have 2 Edelbrocks and neither of which did I buy, install or adjust. I’d guess both are just running however they’re set out of the box. The only “hard start” I get is warm engine, both act the same, at least 50% of the time, have to crank a couple seconds to get it to start. Whether no...

    A833 transmission

I’d say A833s and nv3500s are pretty scarce. And 4500s are not cheap either. Never had a 833 but sounds cool. 3500 getrag gets a bad rap but they were bulletproof for me. A lot of miles. But I’d rather have a 4500 if putting some decent power in front of it.

Does a seal exist for my factory 1977 c10 sliding window

@77Big10 Can confirm what huck said and your seal should fit. Same as our 86 that I put new Precision window seals in. Yes it appears to be longer than necessary or what will fit. But it does fit. Once the corners are fit in tightly and any “stretched” sections are relieved, it’s exactly the...

    Frame dimensions

I’d use my eyeballs and a tape measure. If both bolt to the bottom of the frame rails, good chance it will work imo. Heck I cobbed a received off a 1st Gen dodge back when there was no 2nd Gen, lol. Put it on a GMT400 pretty straight forward. Gas axed a few new holes in the receiver to match...

@CalSgt and @Doppleganger, I propose you two start a thread with a poll for most meticulous chassis resto contest! They are both a work of art!

    350 or LS

Great post by @Hunter79764 ! What it taught me is the old saying always holds true. “cheap, fast or good, pick two!” Also has me solidly leaning towards a small block or big block tire fryer when the time comes for the ‘77 and not a LS.

    Filling in seams

Agree with the clean look of losing those seams. I did not do it. Torn between whether I would or not, even if I had the time to, unlike when I did the blue truck. What I DO like though is the ‘73 look. If I lived in a dry climate or wasn’t considering daily/foul weather use, I’d have KO’d the...

Will stock emergency brake cable work on a truck that has a body lift?

I would think so. There’s enough slack it works with 4” suspension lift.

Bilsteins 5100 on 75 k10. Rear shock mounting fit issues

Best bet, return the Bilsteins and buy shocks that fit. I’m sure all the issues I had are posted here somewhere. But suffice it to say, ordered for 4” lift. Front and back were way too short and both had fit issues with the bolt sizes that would have required pressing out the bushings and...

    Wheel Opening Moldings

Sorry no, the whole truck trim. Mar K as said above.

    Wheel Opening Moldings

And curiously enough you can now buy full sets of ‘77 yellow trim. But the only place I’ve found sells for like $1200-1300 for a full set. Whole truck not just the wheels. They want that much for black stripe too so must be “OE quality” not the cheap tin repop parts. Not a good value imo...

    Best tires

That is the perfect answer! OP with 15s you won’t find any good typical highway tread load range E tires. Those are in general about the longest wearing as higher load range = typically a harder compound and ht tread always lasts longer than AT or MT because more rubber and less void space. And...

What have you done to your square lately??

You mean mustard and ketchup? Lol. Ketchup speed is reeeealy bad for a cold engine! Same. I run 15-40 in most engines gas and diesel, year round although it doesn’t get real cold that often here on the wet side. 10s-20s is about the coldest occasionally. Lighter weight is warranted in extreme...

    Correct Exhaust Manifold Bolts

Yes there are multitudes of suppliers that sell small block manifold bolt sets for $25-40. Even Amazon has multiple options for less $ and sitting on your doorstep tomorrow. Can’t be much if any savings to buy a dozen grade 8 hardware store bolts. Plus you can get a set that has threaded studs...

What have you done to your square lately??

Ok, 2021, sure. We were in Dallas during that mess. Driving around in a rental rwd BMW with all the electronics malfunctioning and only 3 wheels that turned, lol, looking for the only place open to get a hot meal for like 3 days straight. Good thing there wasn’t a single patch of pavement...

What have you done to your square lately??

In general, yes. Although alternator could have just now kicked the bucket. And be the cause of <12v on the gauge. But not likely cause of dying if has enough juice to turn the motor over and fire it. Doesn’t happen often but wouldn’t be the first time diagnosing something that is perplexing...

Where is this interior leak coming from?

Good work so far. My only comment is I feel fortunate (knock on wood) that both squares are leak free and appear to have been since new. I was sketched out a little about replacing the windshield on the 86 w no sealant between the gasket and cab, as there was some there originally. But decided...

    Heater core replacement

lol…. Not totally understanding. Are you asking about the firewall and floor insulation? If so, dynamat or similar would work just fine. IMO. Trying to think just did heater core in the 86 last year. It doesn’t go behind the heater box IE between the flanges on the heater box and the firewall...

    Car Hauler tips/tricks/ideas

Agree, that would be “best”. It will absorb moisture from the uncoated underside. But not practical to remove the deck for that. And for sure motor oil works. Wouldn’t plan on using it for a couple weeks or whatever. But I also wouldn’t use it on a new trailer with new lumber. Guess if I...
