    1978 k25 stalling issue

I love all your old school diagnostic hacks/advice. Reminds me of a better time! lol. When you could diagnose a car problem with a safety pin and a light bulb!

    3M Tape on cab moldings

Yes. I was thinking side moldings when I posted. But the Op hasn’t been back to his thread to confirm. When I put the rear cab band on the 86 (weird it was a fully loaded truck with about every option except that piece), I thought about trying to stick the clips on with vhb tape. But decided I...

    Lowered Wheel Offset/Backspacing Thread

@Skid. I’ll say solid no go if lowered. Look at the 20” wheel thread just below yours.

    Lowered Wheel Offset/Backspacing Thread

Good thing this guy likley doesn’t gaf what you think about his wheels. He didn’t even ask… But many thanks for the helpful response.

    Poll: alternative 20” wheel options

Took a couple measurements. 8.5 wide rims with 4.5 bs. So 4” of projection. 275 wide tires. Has 1.5” clearance tire to fender lip. And tire is 1/2” fatter than the rim. Total 2” from rim to fender lip. A 10” wide rim with a 4” bs will have a 6” projection or 0” clearance. Plus the additional...

    Truck Size

It was a tongue in cheek response. Since every Silverado has over 300hp and a crisp shifting 10speed. There ain’t a slug in the bunch. And the trans is the same as the F150s, both mfgs been using them for 4-5 years now with relatively few issues. Actually it must have been defective. Or did...

    Truck Size

It’s great that we finally get the trucks we used to have to “build”. But can never make everyone happy. Complain it’s too small complain it’s too big. More truth in the Goldilocks table than one might have ever thought. Perspective, 5” lift on 35s vs leveled 1/2 ton Trailboss.

You must’ve gotten a defective rental. I’ve experienced none of that in 4 or 5 new 1/2 ton Silverados, 6,8 or 10 speed. 5.3 or Dmax.

This and what you said before makes it a 8600gvw truck. Proof? Likely none of us know the NZ requirements so kinda on your own there.

    Poll: alternative 20” wheel options

Not following your logic. Since they cost less than expensive wheels there’s no need to make any effort to see if they fit? How much clearance will they have? I’m trying to help you here. Would seem easier to verify than go through the trouble of buying them to try to hock them to someone who’s...

New For Me 1985 Silverado 20 6.2 Diesel

And winter blend is sometimes #1, sometimes additive packages. Most of the time you won’t know what it is at the pump. In extreme temps #1 is used more than additives due to cost.

New For Me 1985 Silverado 20 6.2 Diesel

You’re referencing a 20-30 years ago issue? +15F is the approx cloud point of straight #2 diesel. So no surprise there, you weren’t using winter blend…. Maybe the suppliers in NY weren’t doing the right thing or maybe this was before pretty much all diesel was winter blended for the conditions...

    Poll: alternative 20” wheel options

If he was puttin narrow azz tires on 10” wide rims, there ain’t enough room IMO. Those tires may look stretched on that wide of rim. I’m with huck, I’d wanna see some pics before I went all in. There’s a reason I stayed with 8.5” wide rear wheels. Since the 10s were only available in the...

New For Me 1985 Silverado 20 6.2 Diesel

Holy fook! That would be a bonus. Or a disappointment IMo. I can’t imagine a cross country trip in a slow stinky cramped squeaky old truck if I had a suitable newer quieter, more comfortable, faster means of transportation!

New For Me 1985 Silverado 20 6.2 Diesel

Just read this, but commenting on fuel gelling. Not sure why there are so many misconceptions, but generally any and all diesel fuel sold commercially in any area that gets cold weather is treated to prevent gelling at the rack for seasonal low temperatures. The only times fuel gelling is...

    Poll: alternative 20” wheel options

They make those Scottsdales in 6 lug. Just sayin. Your truck would look bad ass with a 6” lift and them wheels wrapped in 35s.

Any black two tone trucks out there?

I “think” your truck is nice enough that a half assed 2 tone (where the jambs dash firewall etc don’t match ) would be a mistake. Not many color combos on squares that look “right” if not factory style options. Again JMO. If you want to change the primary color then need to go all in...

Any black two tone trucks out there?

While I’m generally pretty horny for 2 tone with white stripes squarebodys, I can’t get on black and white 2 tone. Trucks or boats. They either look like a skunk or a killer whale. I hear ya about colors. Drove school bus yellow company trucks for 25 years. Has soured me on anything yellow...

Haha, my Trailboss had red tow hooks and I thought it looked cool. So we painted them red on this truck.

    First post with Questions

If it doesn’t have a few squeaks or strange noises it means something is probably not working! But yeah idk what it could be. Your front suspension, is it soft or is it just really low clearance to the fender wells? Bump stops in and engaging before it bottoms out? Are the shocks blown...
