Seriously bummed with this drivetrain setup right now :(

Way to stick with it SquareRoot aka Mike. I have been on here three weeks watching, and glad you got it fixed, cause this winter I'm gonna swap stuff around and will need new shafts. Thanks for the great pic. Carry on!!

Has anyone bought the cab mounts, sheet metal, and any recommendations? I want good quality stuff! Want to buy it asap, and get started on the restore B-4 it goes into the shop, as I am planning on paying the shop to do the finished body work, and paint, then I will assemble with new rubber in...

    Hit another darn post!!!!!

Buggered up my truck Wednesday, helping my friends widow, backing watching the trailer and hot a post, just pushed the mirror, I thought. When I opened the door at Mom's, (visit every wed, she's 97, sharp as a tac, sweet as sugar,) hit the fender and would not shut. I know it is just a material...

Seriously bummed with this drivetrain setup right now :(

Thanks Mike, aka square root, for sharing, and apologies if I steered you, wrong, but always like to learn. Now I know that CV's angles are different them reg u-joints. I've only had them on farm equipment, lets you turn sharp without rattling. Onward!

Seriously bummed with this drivetrain setup right now :(

https://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/Driveline-101.shtml#CardanDefined Still think your angles are wrong. No. rear and front angles MUST BE WITHIN ONE DEGREE, parallel with each other. For simplicity, if you had a shaft coming out from both tcase and rearend both 4' long, that angle would...

Seriously bummed with this drivetrain setup right now :(

Most excellent Wayne!! Visuals are so nice, and this shows what happens. Recap, phasing, (u-joints exactly in line,) and angle within 1 degree. Wish you were closer Square root AKA Mike, is would be so interesting to crawl under the truck and check runout, and then to pull the shaft and static...

Seriously bummed with this drivetrain setup right now :(

put an angle gauge on the back 1350 ujoint when it is up, and level. Now do the same for the front. The angle MUST BE THE SAME. Built lots of drivelines, the ujoints must be installed clocked, not 90 degrees off!! We had a 20' Mauser lathe we used to set the driveline on the lathe bed on the...

    K20 pulling 19k lbs...

Hauled lots of hay with the truck on the right, (red door,) Ol Blue, K10, did good with about 6000 lbs of trailer and tons of hay, but slow and a dog. Now Blue (left) K20 did better, heaver and better brakes, but still not stellar with the stock 350. 1976 motorhome 454 doner motor, rebuild ( cam...

Who is or has run a 307?

Had 283, & 307, (1970 Nova, my fav car) High winders. 307 was stock, but hauled ass with a stock two barrel, 110 mph in no time. Watched the tach on mine, (referring to my 283, and friends 327), and a few others hit ten grand, (had forged crank and good Brooks alum rods) very cool sound, not...

    LS swap transmission choice

I have blown two 4l60e in lightly moded 1998 Camaro, not a fan. Got a 2004 4l80e, $500 Seattle area, 45000 miles. It is going behind the BB and using a US Shift quick 4. Here are what is required: Quick 4 controller - $585 Main harness w/loom - $150 TPS Adapter for carb - $175 These are fully...

    OEM Starter options?

I have a big block, starter from the 350 it replaced, 168 tooth, big ol' heavy starter. It works, most of the time. When it is hot and I park it just for a few minutes of shut off, when I try to start it it acts like the battery is drained, (NAPA Legend AGM 900 cc) open the hood, let things...

How much more power can a 5.3L make without hurting road manners or gas mileage?

Haven't see anybody mention that any boosted engine will need more ring clearance, requiring teardown, and file fitting the rings. You hear about it all the time, but believe ime, it is a bit tedious. At the shop, we use many different brand pistons, each comes with it's own clearance. Within...

    Daily driver turbo

Well of course Dave, When I had my 1998 LS1 Camaro, the rice burner crowd used to park at the local Safeway, Every time I went by, I would light em up, that car was a tire burning son-of-a-gun. However those little cars, haul ass. Just want a big tough rude ride, like it is now, but more...
