Swapping out OEM distributor with HEI distributor

You won't be the first to put ESC on an engine that never had it. You should re-read Rick's post #22. Like anything new, the early systems were not perfect, but the concept was great.

Any cb’s that would fit in the radio slot?

If it doesn't have 2 antenna connections, it should have them. Needs antenna for both the AM/FM and the CB. CB's don't transmit well with the wrong antenna. Ground plane is important too, but you probably know this.

What locker shall I go for?

So in the owner's manual they state using synthetic oil the unit may not perform as well. It also states the factory seals may leak with the wrong oil. Changing the oil after the seals are seasoned, the seals should be okay. So filled with synthetic oil was probably my issue. May have been...

    Bed swap issues?

Assuming your K30 is duel rear wheels, also an issue with inner tire clearance. The factory 8' bed would have the widest rear axle. Then extended fiberglass fenders to cover the outside tires. Most service body duel wheel trucks have a narrower rear axle. This keeps the rear wheels more inline...

What is this on the sm465?

I know my 203 has an adapter. I don't have a 205, probably yes. Some gear/tire combos don't need an adapter, the match is good.

What is this on the sm465?

Like Mason stated, ratio adapter. Auto transmissions can have several different drive gears form the tail shaft, and lots of different driven gears. Many choices to match tire diameter and gear ratio. The SM465 does not have the large driven gear hole like an auto trans. Speedo match is done...

Trying to remove plastic knob on side vent

@CalSgt The vent doors on early squares have a cable Geatan asked how to remove the knob from the cable. It is not removable, but the whole cable assembly can be removed. Many metal parts of squares were changed out for plastic parts to reduce weight. Squares were designed when fuel was...

Trying to remove plastic knob on side vent

Only early squares have the cable vent controls. Later models, the vent pull is all plastic. To remove the knob, remove the cable from the vent. Disconnect the loop of the cable at the vent door. The cable assembly is locked in the plastic vent cover with spring loaded fingers. Remove the screws...

Just picked up an LT4 swapped '86 C10

The LT4 was the special high-performance version of the new-generation LT1. It featured a slightly more aggressive camshaft profile, 1.6:1 aluminum roller rocker arms, lighter hollow intake valves and liquid-sodium filled exhaust valves, larger fuel injectors, performance crankshaft, higher...

Time for new shocks. Look at these!

Rick explained a lot. Many times people make the change for the reasons Rick discussed. They don't understand the drum braking system. Many kits do not have provisions for the E-brake/parking brake. Most all medium duty and heavy duty trucks have drum brakes. They all can stop. Most likely you...

    Need Help with Rear Brakes.

I was thinking this too. I have also seen where the light switch in the proportioning valve breaks off and jams the valve. If this happens, you unscrew the broken switch, and pull out the broken switch piece with needle nose pliers. Old AMC's did this all the time.

    Need Help with Rear Brakes.

If the rear brakes shoes are not adjusted out to the drums, then you will have trouble bleeding the rear cylinders. Remember the (self) automatic adjusters will only maintain the adjustment. When the shoes are way out of adjustment, the adjusters will not take up any slack. One trick, to bleed...

    Newbie needing help

Are you also new to a carbureted vehicle that has a choke? You do know, you need to set the choke before starting the truck. Push the accelerator one time to the floor and release, then crank the engine.
