What have you done to your square lately??

Yes, still around. https://www.brakepartsinc.com/raybestos.html Way back in the early 2000's or maybe it was the late 1990's Raybestos sponsored an ABS class. Several day class and free. Work bit the bullet and paid the airfare and hotel fee. Oh, if I could only remember half of what I've...

    Help me understand 5.0 disparities

Yes it did! Well here is why, the cylinder right under the turbo ran rich, #2 and the opposite cylinder #7 was lean. The rest all looked good. When I would get a misfire #2 plug would be fouled and not firing while #7 still firing, would have some of the plug negative burnt away. So it was...

    Help me understand 5.0 disparities

This ^^^^ I liked my little 305 a lot! Ran very well for 80,000 miles until I burn a hole through one piston.

    305 Swap To ???

I also would recommend a BB. When I pulled the 305 out of my '82 I slipped in a 1971 402 BB. Bored .030 over made it about a 406. Mild RV cam made it a torque machine. Many BB's to chose from and they slip right in. You need different rubber engine mounts and they bolt to different holes that...

    Scissor Jack

That scissor jack will work very well. Your truck would have come with a jack that looked more like this one:

    86 C10 454 . Help with fuel return line. Pic's inside.

Okay, about that small line on the mechanical fuel pump. Early pumps had fuel in, fuel out and a vent for the back side of the pump diaphragm. (small hole in the case) EPA wanted no leaking diaphragms pushing fuel out so, the mechanical pumps on later squares had the third line for the vent...

    I'm at a loss..

Is the squeak definitely from the back, or could it be from the front?

did I screw up and jump the gun w/ core return

The big difference is the early squares have the pressure hose with SAE inverted seat to go into that relief valve. Later squares have a pressure hose with the metric "O" ring fitting.

what is this....filter or check valve?

It will add capacity which does help with cooling.

what is this....filter or check valve?

Yes, aftermarket oil filter. Sometimes a replacement steering pump is boxed up with a filter. Though is if the pump failed, there would be crud in the oil. Add the filter so the replacement pump dosen't fail.

Seriously bummed with this drivetrain setup right now :(

This is most likely your vibration. @Craig Nedrow explained this very well! If you need a visual here is this:

I have Original front rotors?? I need replacements. 1' or 1.25 Look inside!

They do look like factory rotors. Many people had their vehicles serviced at the dealer. The dealer had many parts that were an exact match to the original equipment. I put 280,000 miles on my 1982, only one set of replacement rotors. If memory serves, I believe I only had the original rotors...

Best gear setup for a drift truck

A differential from a GMT400 or GMT800 will give you a wider stance. You will need to weld new saddles on the housing to line up with you springs. The Square body 10 bolt diffs have 28 spline axles and the 400 & 800 have 31 splines. Otherwise the internals are the same. If you pick a spool...

How should I solve this starter problem

This only works one time, to get you home. Also, don't EVER hammer on the little permanent magnet starters.
