    Narrowing down vibration - questions

Full floating axles do not support the weight, the two bearings on each side of the hub are supported by the axle spindle. Semi floating axles support the load with one bearing. So if your full floating axle hub wobbles, it is a bearing problem, not an axle problem. Could be as simple a...

    Swapping my 1979 GMC straight 6 inline 250 for a 350

The trans will work fine with the 350. If the 350 was bolted to an automatic, you need the pilot bushing installed in the back of the crank shaft. And of course a flywheel for the 350.

    1984 C7000 GMC

@bucket You guys are right. I called a CDL instructor, the reg's are federal. The company I contract for are the one's that require the CDL for air brakes. He also said a trailer over 10,000 lbs. requires a CDL, air or juice brakes.

    1985 GMC Sierra factory tach

Yes, hook the three wires as stated, Ignition power on, ground and last to the distributor tach connection. If you find and choose a fuel gauge from a medium duty truck or different model like a Blazer or Suburban, you need to remove and install your original fuel gauge resistor on the back.

    87 brake lights

Brake lights and hazards fuse are always on. Did you check the fuse? Power from the fuse box goes to the brake pedal switch, then to the turn signal switch. Since the turn lamps work, the issue is from the fuse box to the turn switch, which could also be the problem. Check the easy things first.

@JodysCars Here is a write up. Very simple really. electrolysis (click) @Ricko1966 Are you doing this too? We have been doing this at work now. We were using Evapo-Rust, but this is way cheaper. The article does state it, but make sure your positive clamp to the sacrifice steel is out of...

    Peanut Port #14092360

Yes, when researching those heads I got wrong info.. Peanut port heads are good for low RPM torque, but get all choked up around 4500 RPM. Peanut port heads are on my 1998 3500, with a 454. Same answer to your first question. Those old low RPM big blocks just keep on running. So yes they...

    Peanut Port #14092360

Not peanut port but the larger oval port. If made in the early 1970's it would need to have had hardened valve seats installed sometime in it's life as the early 70's did not have flame hardened valve seats. Over a 1/4 million miles, sure! As stated would have been on a passenger car. I would...

    Head scratchinh situation

10.5 volts is all you will get at the coil when starter is cranking. The HEI will start with that voltage. What does your new distributor require? Should it have a capacitor wired in to maintain the voltage when cranking? What is your new distributor, is it made to run with a processor?

    HHHEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!! Update- problem unsolved again.

How close is the exhaust system? Heat is an electric fuel pump enemy. Your symptoms are typical of a failing fuel pump. Yes you could be sucking air on the inlet side of the pump, but a small leak, the fuel and air reaches the carb fuel bowl. Fuel stays in the fuel bowl, any air goes out through...

    HHHEEEEELLLLLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!! Update- problem unsolved again.

LS engine, no fuel pump on the engine block? Where is you fuel pump? Electric pumps not in the tank don't like heat. Remove the gauge from the regulator, add a hose and temporary move the gauge up on the cowl where you can see it. Engine is running out of fuel, you need to know why.

    Flatbed to truck bed swap

Welcome to the forum. Most likely that truck was built with a dually bed. The big issue would be the cost of the bed. With the outer fenders not damaged, they are rare. Regular 8 foot bed could be used but that still leaves you needing the outer fenders. @bucket Andy and @Old77 Cob both have...

1996 Grand Cherokee transmission rebuild & on to other stuff

Back when I was working on stationary air compressors in industry, moisture in the compressed air was an issue for some plants. To dry the air a dehumidifier was used. Like an AC unit it cooled the compressed air, then the condensed moisture could be removed. The evaporator on these units would...

    I have a 1987 chevy c30 tow truck.

The term CA refers to the cab to axle measurement. Back of the cab to the center of the rear axle. Very important number for body up-fitters. Here is my hobby wrecker. It has a twin winch 810 Nomar boom with a 6000 lb. wheel lift. The CA is 84", I added the auto loader:

    O'Reilly sux balls !!!

That is disappointing. I did have a better return through RA. Bought a rebuilt hydro-boost, it was assembled wrong. Sent them these pictures and you can see how the actuator rod is about 3/4" in too far. This would put the brake pedal inches off the truck floor. They emailed me the return label.
