    Mystery Tachometer

If the tach still works, it should work with the 6AL just fine. The tach should have 3 terminals. One ignition 12+, one ground and one tach signal. The 6AL should have a tach output.

Distributor will hit edelbrock 3764 intake

But yes, you can simply designate a different post as #1 if you don't want to reinstall the distributor or care that it's designated differently from typical.

Distributor will hit edelbrock 3764 intake

On a Chevy V8, you can orientate the dizzy wherever you want AND have the #1 post be wherever you want. Just set the engine to TDC and drop the thing in wherever you want, but making sure the rotor is where you want it to be as well. The only tricky part is turning the oil pump drive shaft to...

This one needs to go, asking for opinions. Offering it up here first.

I'd like to say 5k is an absolute steal, even considering the issues. But realistically, that may just be because I saw the pictures and fell in love with it, lol. Putting values on a non-runner is always hard. It really depends on the particular buyer and how willing they are to put in some...

    Cheap, ugly, rusty S-10

That's my '70 Impala, back when I actually used to drive it.

What have you done to your square lately??

Between these few tools, no header will ever be in your way. Or steering shaft or whatever.

Distributor will hit edelbrock 3764 intake

The distributors were typically installed when new, with the module connectors pointing more towards the firewall. Doing that will provide the needed clearance.

    Muffler recommendations

I do the same. I try to run a different setup or muffler style on all my cars and trucks. I've got quite a few, but none sound the same. I've got a few favorites, but every time, I experiment with something different than what I already have just to see if I may like it better.

I would really like a turbo 400 in my truck

Late to the party... If swapping out a 700/208, a 400/208 combo is a direct replacement. Shafts will still fit. If you don't want to replace the transfer case, you'll need a 32 spline input for your current 208. While I don't tend to be a fan of the 700r4, a properly built one is perfectly...

    What year tailgate is this??

It was still an option on the Burbs too. I cannot currently remember if there was a difference between the '77 and '78 hoods, I need to go look at my hoods and refresh my memory, lol.

    Waffling

That whole incident revolved around the "Wilderness A/T" model of tire. Firestone makes tires with different compounds and various construction. At any rate, I have run the specific Transforce tire in question and they are a fine tire for street use and towing. They are quiet, wear well and...

    Muffler recommendations

Those ones are actually one of the newer offerings. The ones I've heard (not many, honestly) sounded similar to the typical Magnaflow design.

    What year tailgate is this??

Yeah there were differences in the underside too, the biggest being the new for '77 inside hood release option that needed a different underside stamping.

That hood is nice! Got a picture of the underside? That can help determine the year.

RockAuto- 4x4 front drive shaft, '81 K20 -Rock Auto

I just remembered I picked up a shaft from a newer Dodge (2nd gen I think) because it was free and it seemed like it may be a direct fit other than needing a conversion u-joint. I'll have to get some measurements from it to refresh my memory.

I do believe they kept with the same yokes and flanges that were used in the previous years.

Chevy orange slanted Pro-form valve covers

Yeah, I've run into the same thing. Chevy Orange will vary by manufacturer. I *think* the Rustoleum Chevy Orange may be close to the cast Proform valve covers.

Bleeding rear brakes on 1978 C30 dually

I was out in the garage and remembered about this bleeder wrench thing. Pictured here is my snap-on bleeder wrench that I use most often and also my specialty wrench that I can't remember the maker (red handle). And here I am trying to use both of them on my cab/chassis truck. Please note, I...

    87 with 30 spline axles

I thought it might have been a running change late in the '88 model year. But I also would suppose that the entire axle assembly has been swapped out at some point. It's a fairly common thing to happen.

3 on the tree to sm465 conversion questions

The 2wd crossmembers don't use that setup. There was a couple different designs, but they all used either extra bracing to the top of the rails and/or a side that wrapped up the side of the frame rail.

Sirius/XM "Roady" with original GM truck radio

My dad found out that trick after he bought his Corvette. He got the first year free I believe and didn't renew it. But the car spent all the cold months in the steel barn, along with much of the time in the warmer months too. It never had signal to shut off the service and I believe it still...
