Who is or has run a 307?

Back when we lived in town, one our neighbors was a Karen. Her and the code enforcement guy had it out for me. But they couldn't do $hit about it because all the cars had plates, I moved them all every week or so and nothing was parked on grass. Oh and supposedly the town had a rule against...

    Muffler recommendations

Which kind of Cherry Bomb mufflers are currently installed? They offer a few models. Or are they not actual "Cherry Bomb" brand, and just some random, red painted glass pack mufflers?

Maybe not. They want something that sounds the same as before. Not asking for opinions on what sounds "best". Ah, who am I kidding. Yeah, this is still going to be a rabbit hole lol.

Major rust repair 91 burban 1500

No, the Suburban wheel housings are a completely different stamping and are not shaped the same as the pickup/K5 wheel housing.

    Square-body?

It probably varies greatly by region. I never heard them called squarebodies at all in the 90's. Just "old body style", and it wasn't even really that common to hear. I never really heard them called that until a couple years before this forum came about. Then all of the sudden, that's about...

    Receiver hitches

Besides finding one that simply fits, you also need one that is rated for the amount of weight you will be pulling around. Some hitches are more substantial than others.

Other than the threaded bolt holes in the right side housing for the spare tire mount, they are identical to pickup truck wheel housings. They bolt in too.

    Barn Door Alignment?

Do you think they are actually supposed to be split? It's been a while since I've been up close to a barn door Burb.

    1999 454 carb swap. best street carb, 600? 650? 750? CFM

I definitely think you are correct, no argument there. I just think that if all other things are equal, nobody could possibly tell the difference in throttle response, even though the dry intake would technically show a better result. I'm just basing my opinion off of all the carb/tbi engines...

Fix Slamming Doors - Striker Door Latch Repair

Yeah, if there's no plastic bushing, they will make a little more noise and the strikers also need to be adjusted in, to make up for it. So if your left doors close all the way now, the strikers will maybe need adjusted out a little bit, after adding new bushings or replacing with pex, like...

    Barn Door Alignment?

My old '90 had them. I just went and looked at old pictures on our Flickr account to verify. Looks like I was missing one of the grommets. Also, they evidently split at the bottom for ease of install. For some reason I'm not able to download my pictures to my phone.

    1999 454 carb swap. best street carb, 600? 650? 750? CFM

The dry air vs wet air makes sense, but isn't that kind of splitting hairs? I'm betting port design and velocity are far more of an impact when it comes to throttle response. All things being equal, the wet/dry difference probably could not be felt on any typical engine, I'm assuming.

    Old77's 1989 S10 tinkering project

Someone smarter than me will have to advise about retaining the electric speedo, but you definitely can do it. The oil pressure gauge and water temp can easily be retained as well. With a carb and HEI, you'll be pretty well set. Whatever you end up with, the little details can be worked...

Yeah, should be fine. Your pickup's lack of traction will help it live a lot longer too.

    Old77's 1989 S10 tinkering project

You can use your transmission (its a T5, ain't it?) but you will need a bellhousing for a 4.3 or v8. The 4.3 and the V8s use the same mounting pattern. The 4cyl and 6cyl versions of the T5 use a different ratio set than the V8 version, but it will work. Too much power will break a T5 though.

    Barn Door Alignment?

Looks pretty decent from here. I didn't realize that the hinges would swap from left to right. It makes sense, I just didn't realize it. Are you going to reinstall the plastic panel grommets? That will suck having to go through that adjustment process again, lol.

Welp. I had ASSumed that you had the typical aluminum bellhousing that was used in the squarebody trucks. My bad, lol. I'm guessing you will need longer bolts for those bottom holes then, maybe 2". I've never had one of those older bellhousings.

One reason I like the JB Fab setup is because the sticks are some kind of stainless, so it fits the look of the higher trimmed truck interiors. They also offer some really nice cable shifters.
