    Key stuck in ignition

On a side note, not associated with ignitions or electrical, I found light through the floor. Oh well, looks like learning a little bodywork is in the cards.

    Key stuck in ignition

It was just stuck. Took it all apart and I'm cleaning and lubricating everything. It has some ancient grease on it that is far from lubricating. It's more like clay or something. Anywho, lotta stuff to wrestle with just to lube up some pieces, but, this is the life we have chosen, lol.

    Key stuck in ignition

Well folks, for anybody interested, it was this mechanism in the column.

    Key stuck in ignition

I'm in the process of pulling the ignition switch out now. Headed to the parts store in a minute for the steering lock depressor thingy.

    Key stuck in ignition

Yeah, it has the lever, and it still will not trim back far enough to allow the key to be removed.

    Key stuck in ignition

    It's a manual transmission.

    Key stuck in ignition

So, I replaced the temp and voltmeter in the dash, and in the process, I removed the two nuts holding the steering column in place under the dash, allowing me a little more wiggle room to take out the dash cover. Now I can't turn the key back far enough to remove it from the ignition. Any idea...

    Vortec heads

I'm looking for a set of vortec type heads in aluminum, and was wondering if y'all might have some suggestions of manufacturers to look at, who not to buy, and where to purchase. I see tons of stuff on eBay, Walmart, Amazon, etc, etc. Been 30 years since I looked at building a motor, and boy has...

What have you done to your square lately??

I washed it today. I got it running a couple days ago. So I figured I should clean it too. I can't believe the bed is in such good shape after sitting outside for all of its 41 years, until I pulled it into the shop a few days ago. Anyway, here the before and after pictures.

    Factory smoke

Took the alternator to the parts store and had it tested, it checked out fine. Other fusible links checked out. Only the temp and volt gauges quite working, so I ordered a couple new ones. We will see what's up after they get put in. I'm expecting to replace some bulbs too., I know a have a...

    Factory smoke

Right, so I was putting the battery in and while shooting the poop with a friend and me, being overconfident, hooked the battery up backwards, lol. I found the fusible link and slapped and inline fuse holder I had and stuck a 30 amp fuse in it so I could get things running, which I did, and it...

    Rear disc conversion

I haven't pulled them off yet, but they look huge, they almost completely fill the back side of a 16" rim. How difficult is a swap to a 14 bolt full float rear axle? Is it a bolt on?

That's all, I just got a lift and I'm all stoked about it, lol

    Skinny mudders

Yeah, I'm leaning toward a mostly stock look, considering even keeping all the OEM stuff under the hood too, but with a fuel injection setup under that breather. I just want a slightly larger and more aggressive looking tire on a stock rim.

    Skinny mudders

Road manners in a solid axle 4x4? LoL, not sure they ever don't suck, regardless of the tires. Seriously tho, I get what you're saying. This truck will only see a few thousand miles a year, 5k at the most, and it's road manners aren't all that important to me.

    Skinny mudders

I was looking at tires that might fit the stock 16x6.5 rims I have. I believe those numbers are right, please correct me if not. Anywho, I was thinking of getting a set of 33x9.5x16 buckshot mudders and was wondering if anybody else has run a tire of that size on the stock rims with any luck, or...

    Rim compatibility

I just realized I'm hijacking this post. I apologize and will post my question in a new thread. Again, apologies.

    Rim compatibility

Y'all recon these tires will fit the stock rims ok?
  21. gerhed

    Rim compatibility

Yeah, I went shopping and found some 16x10 in factory style, but like you said, they think a lot of them, way more than I do, lol. Honestly, I'll probably just look for some 33x9.5x16 mud tires. Those should fit the stock rims and I kinda dig the old skinny tire look.

    Rear disc conversion

Nah, you answered just fine. I only put 4-5,000 miles a year on my work truck, which is what this will be, so, I think I'll just keep the drums. Very convincing argument, thanks.

    Rim compatibility

Those are the same rims I've been looking at, lol. what I'd really like to find is an OEM looking rim that'll hold my hubcaps in a 16" or 17' rim that's 8-9 inches wide. I'd love to keep that look.
