I am doing a 12v cummins swap in an 84 k20. I wanted to leave the 4 little gauges in the dash untouched but I also wanted a tachometer. I know there is a specific model of blazer with a 4k rpm tachometer but has an integrated fuel gauge in the bottom. I am curious as to what model of blazer had this and where I could find one. Maybe there are aftermarket options that are remotely similar to the stock gauges? I'm not sure. I would just buy a whole digital gauge cluster but I really like the stock look.

You may have seen one in a Blazer, but that's not where it started life. Those fuel/tach combos were optional in the medium duty (C50 and up) trucks and were used with various engines and rpm ranges.

That makes more sense. The 4k tachometer was probably used in those bigger trucks with the 6.2 or 6.5 detroit.

The bigger trucks typically had 350's, 366's, 427's, Cat diesels, and 4-53 Detroits, among other things.

The 0-4K RPM tachs are the rarest of all the tachs that fit a squarebody. Used on 6 cylinder diesel engines with an injector line pulse sensor. Even if you find one, will not read correctly with anything but a 6 cylinder. Some older model GM trucks had cable drive tachs.

Maybe you could get this to work, from a T60 truck.

something like this. It would be perfect for what I'm using it for. The Cummins revs to 3k rpm max. Modifying the fuel pump you can get them to 4 sometimes even 5k rpm.

I forget who or where, but that tach can be upgraded to work with a higher rpm engine.
