Great to find this forum!

Have had a 1978 GMC K35 for a few years now. 32,000 actual miles. I think it was originally a 2 door dually chassis truck that was sold into fire service in the Sierra Nevada, as it was painted yellow originally and has a service number inside the engine bay, along with some remnants of communication equipment in the cab. I'm thinking maybe an emergency water supply truck. Mountains, because it has a roll cage inside the cab. 400ci engine and 400thm, Chevy 14 bolt rear and Dana 60front, NP203 AWD not converted. Everything appears original. Now it has a flat bed on the chassis, and 16" Alcoa wheels.

Am getting into the brakes at this time. Replacing lines, master, calipers, prop valve. JB8 brake system with hydroboost. Looks like a bit of a struggle on getting the passenger side lines replaced, that area of the chassis is a blind spot. Lots of fun ahead!

Howdy from Ohio! That's an awesome truck! I'd want to paint it the original color, but I really like bright fleet colors that aren't white.

Odd to see a 203 paired to a TH400 in a 1-ton. Usually that would have been a 205.

thanks everyone for the great welcome and kudos on the truck!

Perhaps my biggest surprise regarding this truck is the degree of what I consider cheap parts availability. I'm not used to seeing such bargains. Calipers, rotors, drums, master etc. all well under $100 ea. Of course, places like LMC have the expensive stuff, but it is nice to see that availability!

My main restoration projects have been Ford Econoline pickups. Here is one I built a few years ago. Now parts on these babies are really challenging. A good tailgate for example, $2000+
