I'm a bit remiss but I got a new daily driver back in May of this year.

Sold the Duramax to a kid local to me and picked up this 2015 Silverado. Found it in Mississippi during a business trip and drove it back.

5.3L, 6 speed auto, 3.73 gears. Seems to be working out so far.

It had never been in the snow until I did it this past weekend.

finally got a new daily so the wifey can have her family truckster back..
bought this a few weeks ago, '97 chev rcsb 4x4. pretty much a twin to my kid's '96 rcsb. both are base models, both victory red, both 5 speeds with 3:73's...and both are 4.3's.
ya, i know i said no v6's, but it crossed off 3 of my 4 wants, manual trans, manual t-case and vinyl floor...and the price was right cause the p.o.'s mom hit a metal gate pole with it and did some damage. she bent the fr bumper 2 different ways, broke the filler piece between the grille and bumper, broke some mounting tabs off the grille and smacked up the drivers fender nicely.
the day i brought it home. runs perfect (120 000 miles) new clutch last yr, good brakes and overall a nice "tight" truck with absolutely no rust. can see the number mom did on the front end.

haven't done much mechanically, replaced the stupid, whiny EVO steering pump with a regular one, put a bigger alternator in for my amps and subs, and replaced the weak starter with a mini. also had to change the hood latch and tailgate latch as both were pretty much seized up. i hole sawed a hole in the back of the fender and was able to push 90% of the dent out, which looks not bad and will do till i can find a victory red fender...not really into painting another fender, would rather get one already the color i need. sadly there is a crease in it, but the fender flare hides most of it. and i got another sticker-fied truck. why do people put such lame a$$ decals on their vehicles....as with my son's '96, had to spend some time de-gayifying this one as well.

wheels pretty decent, even low with cruddy 265's on it

build has pretty much mirrored my kid's '96. some fender flares, small lift, 285 Coopers, some new Skyjacker shocks. took the grille and filler piece off my '90 gmc stepper, little bit of paint and also snagged the fr and rr bumpers from my stepper as well. just to screw with peoples minds, i ordered a billet grille for the center grille and will hang a bowtie emblem on it

just waiting for my rear shocks and t. bar keys to show up and these new rims and 285's are going on it. same tires as we put on my sons. i find the cooper stt's bite harder than the km2's we were running

Ditch the AFM with a tune or Range device and put a oil catch can on the girl. Good luck with her.

I want my 1973 K5 blazer to be a daily driver. I am having new gears put in it so it's more drivable. The 3.07 ratio were way too tall after installing a 4L60e. Hopefully using a kill switch will keep anyone from stealing it.

Don't have one- I spread the love between '97 4Runner, '79 Cutlass, and now the '87 Suburban, about 250-300 miles/week all together.

My 90 WT looked just like your sons except mine was a long bed (no cap) with chrome wagon wheels.

The 2nd gen is my primary daily driver.

The 76 was on daily driver duty over the summer while putting Humpty Dumpty ^ back together.

And the Dart saw some daily driver action over the summer too.

But my basic daily commute to work and back is about 7 miles round trip. A trip to the shop is about 60 miles round trip so nothing crazy compared to some folk's commutes.

So, you kinda like those trucks? A little bit anyways? Lol

As far as I’m concerned, GMT 400s were and are still about top of the heap for a balance of reliability, simplicity and comfort.
I had a ‘90 Z71 I bought in college. Flogged that truck. Saw it later in life with a GN horse trailer hooked to it and 250k miles still on the original drivetrain. Even the get rag 5speed lol.
Then had a 94, 97, and another 1990 1/2 ton 5speed. Great trucks.
Best combo ever, 350 Vortec and NV4500!
Bought mom a 97 Z71 when we moved her up north and she needed a 4x4. Gave it to her bf after she passed away with 180k on the clock. And he drove off, pulling a trailer back to Iowa, no issues.
My buddy finds all the deals. He’s a residential fix it plumber so he’s in dozens of houses a week around here.
Latest find was a 97 K2500 ECSB 454. 47000 grampa miles. Sat for 10 years indooors, bought it for $10k and sold it to one of our other buddies…great deal on a “new” 25 year old pickup.

Saw the 'burb at C10 Nats as you were leaving the speedway, looks awesome! @carnutjw
Thanks Huck. Next time I will have to say hi. Nashville superspeedway/Lebanon, TN is about 3-1/2 hours south from me taking two lane roads. Gonna try to attend Southeastern truck nationals next July, maybe C10 Nat's again.

i don't mind them.
i prefer the older trucks, '60- '85 but for a daily their great. like ya say, reliable and simple, decent fuel mileage and still fairly cheap for parts.
