After I did that, I ripped out that POS Atoto and wired up the Pioneer. Put it in and every function worked perfectly right out of the box. Shoulda never cheaped out

I've been looking for a 2wd CCSB from 2004 to 2007 (classic) for months and months, preferable GMC (and not gold or silver/gray ), there just aren't any, at any price reasonable or unreasonable.

Really? If you're willing to travel, check out marketplace in the southeast. When I was looking there were tons of 2wd CCs reasonably priced. And they're typically in better shape since all the yee-yee boys want to squat a 4wd

I've been checking marketplace, only ones I ever find are in the Dallas/FW area and are torn up.

I had previously mentioned the roof is dead and will need to be painted, here's a better shot of that. At some point just a couple weeks after I bought the truck, I decided to hit the roof quickly with some compound to see how well it would clean up. All I was hoping for was to get it back to being red...

So about 3 weeks ago, we finally had a whole weekend with no plans at all. I've been promising I'd show her how/help her to clay bar and wax her truck. It's a silver '21 F150 she bought new and it's never been coated, but it's been mostly garage kept. I needed to do a service on the red truck, so we ran up to the shop that Saturday. She washed her truck and I inspected it, taught her how to clay bar and we decided it wouldn't need any compounding/polishing (thankfully). So after that, I showed her how to properly wax it.

In between all of that, I threw new belts on mine and changed the oil

:Boo:I missed...

The motor is leaking from everywhere, rear main, front seal, oil pan and valve covers. So come spring time or early summer, it'll get yanked for a reseal, cam and trunnion upgrade. Then it'll get painted Chevy red-orange cuz that's what I have for paint

While the motor is out, the whole engine bay will get scrubbed/repainted/fresh firewall heat shielding applied and harness reloomed with braided loom cuz the original split loom is all brittle and falling apart.

We ran out of time on Saturday to finish her truck so we came back on Sunday to finish up the last side and while we were waiting on the wax to set up, I grabbed the buffer and hit my hood real quick. You can see how much brighter it is than the fender

Well, since I got started and already had all the stuff out, gotta finish it. I'll just do a little at a time each day till it's done

Started on the driver's side by removing that god awful pin-stripe with an eraser wheel

Very messy but better already

Here's some close up shots to show you the paint on the sides of the truck. Hard water spots, swirls, scratches galore. I had 2 different Chemical Guys compounds in my arsenal (these are from before CG stuff started to go downhill, once these are gone I'll get getting some other stuff from our local bodyshop supply store), their VSS and C4. Tried both, the VSS did ok, but the C4 knocked it out of the park so that's what I stuck with

So this is 2 passes with the CG C4 compound on their orange medium/heavy cut hex pad on a 5" orbital. VERY pleased

Pass bedside, you can see all the haze and branch scratches. This is how the whole truck looked...

Driver's side after 2 rounds of the C4 compound with the orange hex pad, 1 round of CG's V38 polish on their white medium polish hex pad and then top coated with Griot's Garage Ceramic All-in-One wax machine applied with a CG blue wax pad

Pass front door. Decent reflection, but lack of clarity...

I know I'm beating this like a rented mule but I just can't get over the difference in this paint! I've been kinda bummed on the truck ever since I bought it, worrying that the paint wouldn't clean up. Now I'm STOKED on this truck

Can't read the bucket...

So then last weekend I had a chance to do the passenger side and tailgate. I brought everything home so I could work there

I cannot tell y'all how excited I am about this. Sure, it's still not perfect paint but it looks SO DAMN GOOD now. It's perfect for a daily. Can't wait for the next round of mods

So that pretty much gets us caught up to where I am now. I've been slowly buying parts to rebuild the front end, it's all original and at 185k miles, I know the minute I crank the bars, stuff will start failing. This week I ordered the last few parts, so I hope to do that next weekend:

-Mevotech centerlink and inner TRE's
-Mevotech outer TRE's
-Mevotech idler arm
-AC Delco pitman arm (buddy gave me this earlier this year, it's a 4-keyway. Hoping that'll be what my truck has but could be a 3-keyway. Won't know till I get it apart)
-Trackmotive CV axles
-Mevotech loaded LCA's
-Spindle Source 2-4" lift UCA's that correct the ball joint angle
-AC Delco tie rod sleeves (on clearance on RockAuto)
-AC Delco sway bar bushings and end links (on clearance on RockAuto)
-3" keys off Scamazon
-Bilstein 5100s for a 2-4" lift
-I have some Rough Country 3" lift blocks and U-bolts in the shed from another truck that I ended up only using the keys in

Also picked up some LTZ/VMax/Texas Edition 20's a little while back

Didn't know till I got to the guy's house that they had worn out 37x12.50s on them  Them's some heavy sumbitches

Then managed to score some 275/60/20 Hankook AT's that only had ~6500 miles on them for $200. So I'll get the smaller tires swapped on next week in prep for the front end install/level kit
