Got the rear glass installed and the drivers door handle and sport mirror installed. I’ve been chipping away at getting all the trim and everything back installed. Got the windshield in the other day. I went with a new one with the antenna in the glass.

Finished removing the last of the aftermarket stereo equipment and restored the kick panels to something at least closer to stock.

When I got the Blazer it had what I’m sure is a nice high-end stereo system installed. There were 3 big, heavy speaker boxes in the back, speakers in the kick panels and a 1600 watt Kenwood amp mounted under the drivers seat fed by a power cable that looks like it could supply a small city. As a result the back seat was inaccessible and the kick panel speakers were always getting kicked. When I go after the dash pad I will install a new dash speaker and hook that to a simple AM/FM radio.

So, is the kick panel speaker setup for sale?

My truck died on me today while I was hauling leavers for my neighbor. Wouldn’t start up and I had gas pouring down the carburetor from a leak in a gasket. So I did what I thought was best and pulled the carb for a rebuild. I think I’m in over my head…
Oh well… I just hope it’s going back together correctly

Three critical things... Don't mess with the float level unless you were having problems with it before. Don't mess with the adjustment screws unless you were having problems before. Any adjustment should be done very gently. Lots of carbs are ruined by screwing down the adjusting screws too tightly, ruining the seats. And damn, I forgot the third thing. I must be getting old...

Here is everything that I’m getting rid of. I have no idea what any of it’s worth.

The tall JL Audio speaker measures 19” tall x 11” wide x 5” deep. The two smaller boxes are 8.5” tall x 12” wide x 7” deep at bottom, reducing to 5” at top. These all are surprisingly heavy and seem very well made.

I’ll post this on the For Sale forum. Anybody who comes here to pick up will get a free Blazer ride, weather permitting. :D

Hey!!!!! That looks suspiciously EXACTLE like the valve cover swap I attempted for the second time last weekend. Oh, looking closer, neither set of yours are completely blackened with oil blow-by....

Got the brake lines done on the rear, well almost. I have a 90 deg. Fitting coming for the rear brake line T fitting. Moved the hard brake line braket. Custom rear flex lines to the calipers.

Just drug one of the farm mules out for some brake service. The backing plate on the 76 says she needs some wheel cylinders.

Got really disappointed today. I fired up the 82 after about a week and took it around the block. Backed out fine and drove down the street. When I turned right on the road right out of the subdivision and got on it a little it wouldn't shift out of second gear. So turned around and got it back to the house. Pulled in the driveway. Then it wouldn't back up in reverse. Shifted into drive and it would go. Reverse again and nothing. Wtf?

It's got less than 1,000 miles on the transmission! I checked oil level and it's good. Maybe when it leaked out it did something to it? But I filled it back up and took it for a ride after I put the hose clamp back on and it did fine. Fck me! I guess I'll take it to the shop and let him look at it. This sucks!! My luck though.

I'm gonna get a quadrajet for the 84 because it's not idling again. Always something huh?:rolleyes:

I've FINALLY made it back home and was able to get my hands on my recently acquired CUCV. Washed it, got an overall assessment, ordered some parts; we're on our way. Great to be back, gents.

I drove the truck for the first time since getting it from Redding CA 2 1/2 years ago. Fixed a leaking pinion seal, torqued all the new suspension components, lug nuts, checked air pressures, pressure tested the tank and vent system for emissions before taking it out on its maiden voyage. Forgot to plug the speedometer cable back in so it set a CEL, corrected that, took it for another spin. All and all, it doesn't run too bad, transmission hits all 4 gears and lock up, can't ask for much more. Still have a ton to do but I know it will drive now. Put about 20 miles on it.
