I was wondering if anyone that has the Varajet carb on their 250, if I can see how the throttle linkage is setup on it. I've looked up on how the throttle linkage is set up but I'm not having any luck. Thanks

@ajdouble so it does connect to the valve cover. I just couldn't figure where it connected. The cable with the spring where does that go? Thanks for your reply even though I'm late on replying back to you

LilRobert1367,
The two images show where the spring and the accelerator cable attach onto the valve cover.
if you look close the springs and the cable are not hooked up to the carb in one of the pics.
The two combined springs will pull the accelerator linkage back to the home position.
The larger cable is the accelerator. connected to the gas pedal.
The smaller cable is the detent for the transmission.
Two cables two springs.
1979 is the last year for the square body, and the introduction to the intermediate head and manifold.
I am finding a lot of builders are capping the vacuum inlets on the carb. The only port they are leaving open is the hose from the distributor.

@ajdouble So I'm guessing you might have an automatic transmission, right? In the repair manual I have for the truck only mentions the kick down cable or the throttle valve cable is on the automatic transmission, is this correct? I just making sure it all connected right since the way the truck was modded to run off of propane in 79. It was not a stock propane setup on the truck. My grand uncle propane dealership modded it themself so since I don't want to run it on propane I'm converting it back to run off of gas. I've asked my grand uncle about it but he's in his 80 and don't remember much about what they did to it.

LilRobert1367,
yes, the transmission with the detent hookup is for the auto transmission.
If I understand correctly the detent purpose, downshift from third to second or first gear all depending on MPH speed you are traveling.
Looking at the pic of your truck, mine is a mirror image.
