Mud Tires

Hey guys, I’m new here. I am wanting to put some mud tires on the stock rims on my truck. I want something that looks fairly aggressive, such as a tsl thornbird or a nitto mud grappler. I am just wondering if anyone has pictures of trucks with mud tires on stock rims. I will post a picture of my truck to help give you guys ideas as I am open to suggestions. This is my first truck and it is a project, and has rust. I am still in high school and know it will end up in the mud or doing burnouts/being slightly abused as a kid will do, so I don’t plan on spending the money to restore it until I keep it nice. I lost the pictures but really liked our last set of Mastercraft courser MT tires on our suburban. Did awesome in the snow and muddy stuff. I also like the Maxis Big Horns on the rear of my K10

I had federal couragia mt on my 2wd 78 and they went anywhere i wanted. I forgot they werent on stock wheels.

It's great to see a High School age driver of a vintage truck. I probably wouldn't display your front license plate...but I graduated high school in a different century.

This probably isn't exactly what you are looking for but I am running Cooper Discoverer STT Pros on my '87. My factory rally wheels are probably a bit wider than your steelies.

The front plate is a vanity plate that I made lol. But yes I believe my rims are 8 wides, I would assume the rally’s are 10. Thanks for the suggestion I will look into it.

FYI...I don't know you but I think you are cool as hell. If I were your age and driving that truck in the area it looks like you live in, I would absolutely rock that plate.

have much experience with them?

I sold a set of 6 to my coworker who had a 2nd gen ram dually

His alignment was right, and he rotated them about when he should have ,but with almost exclusive road driving he wore them fast

To answer your question, No. No I don't. I installed them on The Truck a couple of years ago.

A Ram Dually probably has that heavy Cummins and they naturally eat tires. My personal experience with them is that no tire will last very long. Hell, my '19 2500HD Duramax goes through tires pretty fast and the alignment is perfect. A Heavy Truck pulling or carrying Heavy Things is hard on tires.

But The '87 will not wear these tires out. They will dry rot long before the tread is gone. The '87 gets used but it is definitely a Toy, not a primary truck.

The Big White Beast in this pic is a Monster and it sees a lot more road time than The '87.

My '81 6 cylinder can chirp the rear tires when unloaded, but burnouts will never happen. Very happy with the look and overall performance of these Goodyear Wranglers, less than $100 each at Discount tire.

Can not comment about mud driving yet. Also, be careful with those beautiful mud flaps, those are getting hard to find and expensive. I still have not found a set.....

I've run a couple sets of these Dick Cepek Extreme Country tires on our newer Suburban. 285/75/16, the factory aluminum wheels are the same width as the 70's and 80's 8-lug steel wheels (6.5" wide).

This year I bought a set of super cheap tires online with free shipping. Crazy cheap. Size 235/85/16.

I ran a pair of 255/85/16's on the front of one my old Suburbans for a while too. They were BFG Mud Terrains.
