Air Cleaner Fitting - PCV?

What is this part, and can I buy a replacement if I modify the original? It is not the PCV filter, I have that installed on the opposite side of the air cleaner and I don't use it anyway.




I am installing a Pro Flo 4 system and I'm looking for a spot to put the air temp sensor. I have identified this fitting on an OEM air cleaner I bought a while back, that would be a perfect spot to mount the sensor. I do not want to drill another hole into the air cleaner. However, I also do not want to modify the original plastic fitting if it is irreplaceable. I think it's the part of the PCV system but I don't need it. My current PCV setup is the throttle body PCV vacuum to driver valve cover, with a filter on the passenger valve cover. The light truck service manual, truck owners manual and Google have failed me.

Pcv filter. Connects on the passenger side.

It's connected with a hose or pipe the valve cover, this is the inlet for the air that the pcv valve sucks out. You can put on a valve cover breather and use the opening in the air cleaner housing for your sensor.

You could sandwich some washers and rtv to take up space in the hole in the air cleaner housing and save the plastic doohickey in the toolbox junk drawer.

I was thinking it was some kind of return from the crankcase, because it has a baffle directly in the path of the air being returned to the air cleaner. The unknown part belongs on the driver side. The cutout in the air cleaner for this mystery part has a "D" shape. The factory PCV filter is on the passenger side and has a plain square cutout. I could see a small filter sliding into this part, but there isn't anything to retain a filter element.

I will settle for a fabricobble plug out of washers or rubber or plastic if I have to. It would be nice if I could use this plastic fitting though, since its secured with a simple spring clip.

Drivers side should be the connection to the charcoal canister.
