I recently bought a truck that has some paint issues. How do I protect the rusted sheet metal while waiting for re-paint? Sand to bare metal and apply Rust Reformer? Thanks in advance.

What's your timeline for getting it painted? I'd honestly just leave it alone most likely

Hard to tell by the pic but it looks like bubbles on the hood that is probably more rust spots coming soon. For the one in question I would sand that spot down to shiny metal and spray some dupli color or whatever brand spray paint you can find that matches as close as possible just to seal it up so the rust doesn't continue to eat the metal and create a hole. I would do that on all spots that open up like that then plan on not only a repaint later but going down to metal and repaint.

that and if it's going to be a while, put some sort of paint/primer over it.
