look at swapping in a rear 14 bolt full floater 8 lug with an lsd ( can be found cheap from a wrecked C20 ). You will need a matching set of 8 lug front rotors for the Dana 44 from Rock Auto ( No real advantage at the front, but allows a full set of 8 lug rims all 'round ) - until you can locate a Dana 60. That will get you a lot more smiles on the trail from the big block and NP205. Check out ORD 4x4 and "Billa-vista" .com for parts and info.
That sounds like a good future project...

K10kole,
I just dropped a 454 into my 84 K10. I used my original SB clamshells WITH the support plates behind them. I had to modify (drill an 1 1/4" hole) in the driver's side plate because of differences in the blocks and I plan to install the support bars. The BB has a freeze plug in the middle that the SB doesn't. You can shim the clamshells or get BB clamshells. I also used Energy Suspension urethane frame mounts with new aftermarket frame brackets. Everything fit just fine. I don't have the front sheet metal on yet but I don't anticipate a fan shroud issue.

There 2 different engine mount set ups one is a clam shell style and another called a tower style (correct me if I am wrong). But the brackets on the engine may not work when bolting up to the frame my 305 had clam shell and I used them on my 454 everything aligns right and fits no problem. Just putting this out there as I have run across them both in my research of doing an engine swap.

Swapped my 305 with a 454 and used all old stuff and it works fine.
