A/C only works when driving!?

Sorry I'm so dense guys. (Really appreciate you stickin' with me and trying to help this very A/C-ignorant fella out!)
The blower motor is attached to the "squirrel cage" fan thing that's bolted into the big housing on the firewall just behind my pass. side inner fender? Since it's fully encased, how would I be able to actually see if it's turning? Will I feel it running through the case?

Yeah, Rick's right. If it's running, you can feel that on the motor housing.

While I can't declare it official at this time, I think a new blower motor may have fixed this issue.

The problem was intermittent, and I haven't driven the truck and used the A/C enough to feel I've worked it out. But I've used it about 3 trips in the last week or so on pretty hot days and it's worked at every stop I come to thus far.
