There is no way a 12 bolt chevy, took a gallon and a half on a refill. I wanted to make sure the O.P got accurate information.

The B&M cover is designed to hold way more fluid than stock. It butt's out further and the fill port is much higher up

Not wanting to stir the pot, but just clear things up.

Pretty straightforward to check into…
Says the b&m cover adds 1/2 quart capacity.

What are the chances you put in 3 bottles of gear lube. Now if you were thinking the bottles were 1/2 gallon I could understand you thinking you put in a gallon and a half. The bottles are quarts. Also what are the chances you filled it until oil ran out the hole in the rearend cover? You are only supposed to fill it until it runs out the axle housing fill port, then stop filling and replace both fill plugs. If you didn't do that it will allow you to grossly overfill it.

If you call having years of knowledge, and then sharing said knowledge with forum members, as being argumentative, then yep he argues with everyone. I personally enjoy him sharing his knowledge. @Ricko1966 Please keep sharing your knowledge.

The fill plug on those covers are not to be used as a level plug. The original fill/level plug is to be removed, and filled until fluid comes out of the hole in the housing, not the cover.
