    Another candy store score

Believe it or not, I found another highly polished water pump for $50. When I flipped over the pump, 4 of the 6 bolts were missing off the back plate. That was a big red-flag. I opened the back and sure enuf, no impeller!. I took it over to customer service and shared my discovery. Their only...

    Scored Another One -Pushbar

If ya look at the 1985 D1500 pickup, it may have had holes on the top of the bumper for the bumperettes....maybe.. I aint sure how they bolted on. Just a thought...

    Almost found a dizzy.

My dizzy is original with about 100,k. I have not had any issues with it. But my line of thinking is this. If I can find a replacement component for 1/4 of the normal cost, buy it. If I never need it...great, the part will ad value when the truck is sold. The one I was looking at was an older...

    Almost found a dizzy.

Hit the candy store and walked the "returns" isles. Found a dizzy with the HEI coil on top. My heart skipped a couple beats. Scanned the qr code. It said Gen1 small block Chevy. Took it to the tech counter to double check. It had a bronze gear which I though was ok, but when he say it he said it...

    Another candy store score

It's been just under 6 months since I posted the last water pump find snafu. And yesterday I found this water pump on the "demo" shelf next to a cast iron one. Both were the same price. Neither had gaskets. But I already have those. The cast iron was painted black and some paint had been scraped...

What would you pay for this truck?

There is tons of aftermarket sheet metal in the catelogs. Metal aint the issue, money and time are. The head gasket might be the issue, a cracked liner will also pump coolant. Wont know until you scope it or unbolt it. If you figure on the "worse case" scenerio, you wonxt be surprised. And here...

    Questions on carb upgrade

If interested, I have a couple of Q-jets from the 70's. They are for 350s and have been cleaned and rebuilt. They just need tuned. I believe all of mine are for automatic tranny. I can provide numbers if interested. And if the collective will suggest a fair price, we might go with that. I can...

    Trans cross member removal question.

My trans cross member (TCM) has 3 pieces. The big main cross piece and then 2 smaller "gusset" pieces that bolt to the main piece. (One on each side) I need to remove the TCM so as to cut a notch in it and it can't be done wothout removal. If I unbolt the gusset pieces and TCM bolts can it be...

LE9 305 ESC backfires through exhaust on deceleration

That large tube is for the warm air intake that goes into the carb. That silver part is called the stove and the pipe going from the stove to the breather snorkle is called the stove pipe. There is no tube from the air pump going to the stove.

    What is this part?

I'd clean it up and paint it with a really tough paint. Then put it back where it belongs. Better to have it and never need it, than to wished ya had installed it.

    Spray booth??

In the early spring, IF you get the right day, the bugs are usually not an issue. There are some decent pop-up style dining flys for outdoor activities/camping. I used one to do my first shoot last fall. This is a doner hood for my ol'Taco. I shot the primer one day and took a day to hand...

    Aftermarket tranny cross member

Here's what I mean. This pic is looking straight up from the ground to the bottom of the tranny pan. (aftermarket) You can see the shinny edge of the area I already trimmed/notched back. The red line represents a more radical notching. However, the piece notched out would essentially be just...

    Aftermarket tranny cross member

First off... Thanks to all who gave input. I do appreciate it. I went to Summit and picked up their $80.00 tubular cross member. No complaints on the piece itself....however; The following comes strictly from an engineering eye. And to be very clear, I am not a formally trained engineer, so my...
