just some advice, the metal bed rail caps will eat into the paint. I had a 2006 Silverado that I used the diamond plate caps on, and they rubbed through the paint. If you use some, I’d go for the plastic tape on type.ICI makes one without diamond plate. Polished stainless.
If this one doesn't polish up quick probably just replace it.
The truck had bedrail caps as well that were taken off. Will put some diamond plate ones on to cover the old screw holes.
Trying to save the paint on this truck. Probably can. Will have some minor patina.
Yeah, the OBS tailgate is a good bit thicker than the squares. It'd be a super loose fitI know this is an old thread but has anyone tried one of the plastic tailgate caps from an OBS truck on a squarebody tailgate? Only one I can find is the cheapo stuff from LMC that comes in a roll. I'd like to have a molded one. The tailgates seem to be close in width.
Good call. But if they get fastened down solidly they don’t move around as much. Good way to also keep from rubbing through the paint is put down sacrificial layers. Honestly a couple layers of duct tape would work for quite a while. I’ve also used double sided tape, couple layers of clear vinyl film (like Clear Bra), thin sticky foam, plastidip painted on.just some advice, the metal bed rail caps will eat into the paint.
