The welding is the easiest part of it. All you’re doing is 1000 spot welds. Can do even if you can’t lay a bead on anything. The cut/fit, cut some more, fit some more requires the skill.
Oh yeah. I know. Just have to be careful. You can always cut and grind little by little.

Florida is a funny state. Some stuff is super solid, some stuff is riddled with rust.

Despite being in Ohio, I do own a few vehicles with zero rust. They are all from out of state. One of them is from New Port Richey, Florida.
Well the pros are no snow and no salt. Cons are it's very humid and alot of salt air. I guess what part of Florida matters alot.

Not as challenging as doing straight bodywork that holds up over time. Other than some tack welds at the rear, the bedsides bolt on. As for the fenders... the quality of the repair panels is always poor at best, they take some fabrication to make fit properly. Even with just rust in that one area, replacing the fender is always easier. Especially if you get a quality stamping. And yep, expensive. You have to pay to save labor.
The bedsides are bolt on for real? That is a game changer in my mind. For some reason the rockers and floor don't intimidate me as much as the bedsides. Maybe just because of how expensive they are from these companies.

Even with 2k in shipping across the country, not a bad deal.

Although nobody has mentioned that the original truck in question is a shortbed C10. That's probably the most expensive combination you can look forfory
Yes it is and it seems the 79 is the most sought after year? Would be my luck. I love the body and that they went to a gas door.

PS, if you look at the interior pics, aside from being very clean, the “rust” is paint bubbling on the rockers.
And somewhat possible original paint as what are the odds someone re did the special edition hood stripes “recently” on a truck that looks original?
Lol...sir there isn't enough rocker to have paint. Paint is original or done well. Considering the shine I'm thinking done well in the factory color.

Rob,you know it's not a big deal to make a shortbed truck out of a longbed truck, right? It's so common more than one company makes a kit to make it even easier.

I certainly didn't know that ^

If you find a nice runner in Texas you can drive it back. It would make for quite the adventure.

I know. The thought had crossed my mind. Most of what I've seen they cut the frame and put a short bed on it. Can you cut down bed too?

Yes you cut the bed as well. I think Brothers Trucks has a video on it. The kits are in the 400 to 500 price range.

I was thinking that would be a cool thing to do but getting a temp tag gets complicated and with work I can't exactly be lost up there for a week. I was goin to do that with one about 4 hours away near Orlando but the truck had a th350 with 4.10 gears and I don't think that'll make for a fun drive on the expressway.

Longbeds aren't hard to find at all. I guess then you just need a shortbed driveshaft or to cut the longbed one.

For that price? No way. lol Double the price and you'd be in shortbed territory around here. Most of the short beds I see though are either way butchered up, someone with not enough cash and less brains thought they were being cool, or they're super clean but way expensive.

I also am quite happy with the long bed. Having gotten used to the struggles of the "not quite short" bed on my '04 Sierra, I was pretty tickled to slide a couple sheets of plywood and a bunch of 8ft 2x4s into the bed of the C10, and just shut the tailgate. lol
