Ashtray to USB

I found I needed good USB charger in my truck more than I needed an ashtray. So I removed the ashtray and cigarette lighter, opening the hole up a little bit. Cut a blank metal plate to cover both the ashtray and lighter openings and installed a marine quality Dual USB charger wired directly to the positive cable (always hot) above the transmission on the fire wall. It now serves as a fast charger. GPS

Might want to make one always hot and one ignition on. That's how my '06 Jeep came from factory (lighter plugs). Comes in handy for me on occasion.
