Why not just get a lighter adapter that has 2 USB ports on it?

Modern 12v devices drawl more current than intended for these circuits. Using a new plug allows for new wiring to be added to support the current load.

Heavy duty marine USB chargers. Too large for cig lighter hole. Secure Just my solution. Not the only or even best. Ran power from from firewall direct to USB.

Recently found that using a six inch charging cord allowed me to rest my phone on the “ledge” under the charger. While the phone didn’t slip I am adding a small strip of non-slip adhesive backed material to insure the phone stays in place.
