Throttle cable

Wondering if anybody knows of any good conversion kits or alternatives for the throttle pedal cable. I really hate a stiff throttle pedal, it kind of hurts throttle response. My 79 is awful and my suburban is alright at best, for me.

I like the one on my 70 c10, it has a lighter spring but it works because the linkage is just a rod going up from the pedal and another rod going through the firewall to the linkage on the carb lol

I'm in the same boat. Mine is so hard that when I test drove the truck I didn't know what was going on. The PO said he wouldn't let his wife back the truck into the garage the pedal is so stiff.

He told me it just needs a longer cable so it doesn't have as tight of a bend in it. I'm curious what other opinions are...

The cables are cheap so I just replaced mine every now and then. I suppose one could make up a shoertr one if they wanted. I never found it to be all that difficult to swap out so I didn't make one.

They all have a loop, it's to prevent binding..

I know in this instance, it's a '79 so all that can really provide resistance is the throttle cable, but can TV cable do the same? I get a ton of resistance from the TV cable on my Jimmy. Disconnect it, and it's reasonable.

I use that Lokar cable on some of my cars. It has worked well and is smooth.

Lighter return springs may help also.

I tried some lighter springs, with no luck. I'm sure with a new replacement of the original it would probably be alright, but want to try something else.

I get a ton of resistance from the TV cable on my Jimmy. Disconnect it, and it's reasonable.

Those are pretty much a straight shot(no loops)to the carb and the spring in the VB isn't real stiff so there shouldn't hardly be any resistance, check that the cable isn't pinched anywhere, should be smooth connected as unconnected.

A little Blaster silicon spray blasted into both ends can make a big difference. Better yet if you remove the cable on the carb end, and then hold it up and spray down.

This works on the tv and kick down cables but you have to remone the throttle cable to lube it unless you drill a hole in the outer sleeve that comes back from the eye that attaches to the carb. Otherwise you cant get to the point where the cable enters the sheath.
