Evening Gents,
I have kicked my own azz for not taking pictures when I took this apart so get in line……

The new neutral safety switch has a flat clip for the blue and green wires as shown. Plugged in these two wires and all is good. Here’s the problem: It also has provisions for 2 leads that seem to fit the wiring harness that has the purple and yellow wires- as pictured.

Now that I’ve had time to think about this, my question is: Before I swapped out the old Neutral Safety Switch, where did the purple and yellow wires go? As you can see, the old Neutral Safety Switch does not have provisions for the purple and yellow wires. Look closely, the square, raised boss that appears to be a provision for the black termination plug with the purple and yellow wires is blocked off, it connects to nothing.

So, where did the yellow and purple wires go when the original neutral safety switch was in place?

I thank you in advance for your help.

Those are the starter signal wires. They send power to the starter solenoid telling the starter to crank the engine when the key is turned. Yellow is the neutral safety start switch. It runs from the ignition switch in the steering column to the neutral safety switch. The purple wire is the starter solenoid feed and it runs from the neutral safety switch to the starter solenoid. On the wiring diagrams the yellow wire is circuit #5 and the purple wire is circuit #6.

I hit post before I was done writing.

It may not have plugged in if a PO bypassed it by connecting the wires together. Do you remember actually unplugging it?
