Ahh, so its not a Blazer tank convesion. Only reason I don't like the saddle tanks, is of course the imfamous danger of explosion on impact, and the fact its just stupid as hell to have the fillers on 2 differant side of the truck. C'mon GM, even Ford was smarter than that. duh !!!

I don't know, I rather like the idea because if I come up to a gas station that's freakin' almost full, I don't have to back in to get to the fill without stretching the hose or having to back in and have some ******* try to beat me to the pump.

In their catalog they state that the tank is a Blazer/Burb tank.....

That's true. I can pretty much pull up how I see fit as long as the back of the truck is close to the tank and I'm good to go.

Thats about the only advantage. And that's provided both your tanks and the switch work. Which mine do, but many don't because people don't repair them when they get a bad ground wire. Or the valve goes bad.

My tank

Here's what my shop did for my fuel tank relocation. It's got a 32 gallon capacity. Not 100% complete yet so pics are of mock-up. Outside will be powder coated black & the inside gets a special coating to prevent corrosion. We used a new stock style 2008 Chevrolet 2500HD pickup assembly to keep it compatible with the motor I used as well as to make it easier down the road when it's time to replace it or work on it!!!

Ive thought about this a good bit. Im goin back with the wood bed and what i was gonna do is towards the back cut the middle board and put a hinge on it so the filler neck will be right there in the bed but still kinda hidden. Not sure just an idea.

I know this is dead. But as a newb here I figure I would drop a little more info to the sticky.

First I cut out the spare tie mount. I didnt take a pic of the brace but you will know what I'm talking about. Then I bought 6ft of 1 1/4" box tubing (.125" wall). I then trimmed the edge of the rear brace where it rolls toward the back of the truck. I used this as a guide to keep my tubing straight and it also made a nice V channel to weld to.

Then I added the cell and straps with another rough cut piece of tubing and squared it up as well as leveled it out.

Then I cut so 1 1/4" angle to make mounting tabs. The cell wont just lift out because the fittings on the sump catch the rear brace. The tabs make the whole thing removable. One side is vertical the other is horizontal. That should keep it in place.

I covered the whole deal in POR 15 and called it good.

Then it was on to the fuel pump. I had everything on the shelf from many other incomplete projects. So this was easy. The pump and filter are circa 1992 but they are new and do what I need and that is get me to work and back.

And the final touch. Cutting a hole. I am currently building a stainless door to cover it.

So can I hang with you guys?

Cool !!! We've recently has some members with questions about converting from Auto to Zbar linkage. I myself hope to be going to a Hydro Clutch from an Auto truck with an A833 4 speed w/OD someday soon. At least by the end of this summer I hope.
