I’m trying to replace a male terminal in the junction block that plugs in to the fuse panel but I don’t think I have the correct terminal.

I have what is supposed to be a packard type 56 terminal but it’s not fitting the slot. I expected it to push in and somewhat snap / lock in place but it does not. No matter what I try it only goes in so far and stops, at this point it’s only exposed half as much as other existing terminals. When I tried to force it the terminal begins to deform.

Am I using the wrong part? Special secret handshake required?

The blade is the correct width (.250) but the existing terminals don’t appear to be split like the new one (see circle). I’m trying to insert it into the headlight power slot at the bottom (see arrow).

Do you have any of the old clips that are out and can match them up? The company may either shipped the wrong ones or updated them. If they are not clipping/locking into place I would think they are incorrect.

It looks like the terminal I need for my '91 is a "metri pack, 630 series". The type 56 is for an older model (around 70's until ??).

I don't have any terminals pulled out but the 630 looks pretty close to what I can see in my junction block. I've ordered a pack from Amazon that should be here in a couple of days, I'll update this once I've tried one.

That’s either a 480 or 630 series terminal. If you need one in a hurry any GM dealer will more than likely have one.

Is the difference between those the width of the male tab?

Delphi terminals go from series 150 (the smallest) to 630. The have one size larger for Maxi Fises, but I can’t find an illustration.

The bigger the wire gauge, the bigger the terminal needs to be.
