the window crank that i have has a lot of play in it. when i pull the handle off i can wiggle the notched metal stud that
protrudes from the door panel. after looking closer it seems that some of the bitches are worn out too so it makes it even harder to roll it down, usually takes 2 hands to stop it from digging into the door panels.

do i need to replace the entire manual window regulator assembly or am i able to order just the stud that the window handle clips on to?

Even if the stud was available for replacement, you would still have to remove the entire regulator to do so. Definitely sounds like the regulator is shot.
